4. Health Disparities Roundtable: Advancing Mental Health Equity

This year’s event will focus on public health solutions for mental health. Experts, including this year’s speaker Dr. Gilbert Gonzales, Jeremy Hanson Willis, Antony Stately, and Sue Abderholden, will discuss effective and sustainable policies, practices, and programs to achieve mental health equity among intersectional identities. Hosted by the SPH's Health Equity Work Group.
5. Mini-Lab: The Power of First Person Storytelling in Public Health with Allison Myers from the StoryCenter

Personal narratives are powerful tools for researchers and practitioners alike. They can be used to educate, influence, train, advocate, and reflect in the public health field. Harnessing the power of these narratives is an important skill. This session on digital storytelling from the StoryCenter will be a brief introduction to the process of gathering and presenting personal narratives for public health use. As a leader in the global storytelling movement, the StoryCenter has decades of experience helping organizations and individuals bolster their storytelling skills.

7. Trauma and Sensory Processing: Definitions, Examples, and Strategies

The Minnesota Association for Child’s Mental Health (MACMH) is hosting this webinar, which will cover pertinent definitions and evidence-based connections to the outward responses that are often seen in children that are having difficulty with sensory processing. Speakers will provide examples to increase comprehension and demonstrations of strategies that are appropriate for immediate use in working with children.

This webinar, hosted by the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA), will discuss how health inequity is connected to sexual violence. The webinar will review health equity, social determinants of health, and how they connect to systemic racism. It will also include how victims/survivors are impacted by health inequity and strategies advocates can take to support victims/survivors.

11. Podcast: MCH Bridges Podcast–We Need to Start Talking About Stillbirth
This documentary-style episode of the MCH Bridges Podcast highlights the lived experiences of families who have experienced a stillbirth. Guest speakers Jasmine Abraham and Nneka Hall share their personal stories after Jasmine’s son, Qasem, and Nneka’s daughter, Annaya, were born still. Rose Horton, a nurse and Executive Director of Women and Infant Services at Emory Decatur Hospital and who also created #NotOnMyWatch, will also be a guest speaker. This podcast will discuss stillbirth, its risk factors, prevention, the short- and long-term impacts of the loss of a baby, and the support and systems-level changes needed.
