Connect 41 Community Newsletter | Winter 2023
Twice a year, District 41 sends out a print newsletter to all households in the District 41 boundaries. If you live within District 41, you should have received a newsletter in the mail over the past couple of weeks. Sending a print newsletter is one of the ways District 41 connects with the almost 80 percent of households that do not currently have children attending a District 41 school. The most recent newsletter includes updates and celebrations about building a full day kindergarten center, new free mental health resources for families, a number of student accomplishments, and welcoming a new Board of Education member.

Hadley Student To Perform in Lifetime of Music Initiative Concert
Hadley Jr. High School 8th Grader Alex Koehler (French Horn) will perform in the 20th Annual Lifetime of Music Initiative Concert with the Northshore Concert Band on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Alex is one of 40 middle school musicians selected for this prestigious performance.
The Lifetime of Music Initiative is an annual event where local student musicians are invited to join Northshore Concert Band on stage at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall for a portion of their winter concert. This program provides a rewarding musical experience to young musicians: granting access to unique performance opportunities outside of the classroom, introducing students to outstanding wind band repertoire, and exposing participants to the performance opportunities that await them beyond high school, regardless of if they choose to pursue music as a career.
Alex will be honored at the District 41 Board of Education Meeting on Monday, December 18, 2023 in anticipation of this distinguished honor.
Congratulations to Alex Koehler!

Parent Coaching During the Holidays
We know the holiday season can bring on additional stress. Parent Coaching is a FREE resource that provides parents and caregivers the opportunity to meet with a Parent Coach to guide you through whatever issues you or your child are dealing with.
Over 190 District 41 families have engaged with Parent Coaching through the website and 13 families have been working directly with a coach. If you need support or simply have a parenting question, this is for you! We hope the number of families engaging with coaching continues to increase and provides the support needed.

Musician Visits Churchill
Harpist Sharon Crabbe visited with 2nd and 3rd grade Churchill music students. Ms. Crabbe provided students the opportunity to play a lap harp while teaching them the history of the harp and its mechanics. Ms. Crabbe is an accomplished performer and educator who has taught for over 30 years. Two of her many performance venues include the National Cathedral and the White House! She received her music education from the University of Texas and is passionate about teaching and enriching the lives of her students through music. Thank you, Ms. Crabbe!
