Principal's Point
Dear Students and Families,
Winter Break starts today. This newsletter is just in time for us to take a break from school. I hope that doesn't mean that students take a break from learning.
As your students are home during the break, I encourage you to have them continue to read daily. My suggestion is to set aside a time where you can sit and listen to, or read to your child. Studies have proven that parents who read themselves are more likely to raise children who read. Be it a novel, a magazine, or the newspaper - your children look up to you as an example of the importance of reading. If they see you read, they see that reading can be enjoyable and something that they need to do all their lives. I hope you will take time this break to read with your child.
Our belief is that effective education results from a positive partnership of parents, students, and staff. This partnership is built on a strong foundation of commitment to student achievement and continues to grow with open communication between home and school. Parents set the tone for their children’s education by instilling the basic understanding that education and learning are important. You are a powerful influence on your child’s overall academic success! And we thank you for your continued dedication to your child.
I also want to take a moment to thank you for your overwhelming response to our request for assistance for families less fortunate throughout this semester. North is truly a wonderful and giving community!
At this time of the year, I like to share a poem that reminds me how very special children are and the importance adults, all adults, play in their lives. Thank you to our North families for sharing your children with us at North this semester!
Help Me Grow Please…
Be consistent with me,
then I can trust your words and actions.
Comfort me when I’m scared, hurt or sad,
then I’ll know I’m okay even when I’m not feeling strong or happy.
Take responsibility for all your feelings and actions,
then I also won’t blame others, and I’ll take responsibility for my life.
Communicate when you feel hurt or frightened about when you’re angry at me,
then I’ll feel I’m a good person, and I’ll learn how to constructively deal with my feelings.
Tell me clearly and specifically what you want,
then I can hear you and I’ll also know how to communicate my needs in a positive way.
Express to me that I’m okay even when my words or behavior may not be,
then I can learn from my mistakes and have high self-esteem.
Balance your life between work and play,
then I can believe that I can grow up, be responsible and still have fun.
Understand and accept me.
I may be different from you and I’m okay.
Treat me as an individual,
then I’ll know that I can be my unique self.
Hug me and tell me that you care about me,
then I’ll feel lovable and I’ll express caring for others.
Thank you for hearing me,
I LOVE YOU!--
We at North wish all of our families a safe and wonderful winter break!
Sincerely,
Mr. Lugo

Last Minute Menu Changes
The national food, product and trucking shortages that are impacting stores and restaurants are also impacting our school cafeteria operations.
These shortages can cause our menus to change unexpectedly at the last minute at any specific school and some students have expressed tears, frustration, and anger at these changes.
Please know that we are doing what we can to provide meal options as planned, but families should expect occasional disruptions.
Thank you for your patience as we work to best serve you.
Here We Grow!
All Noblesville elementary schools are partnering this year with Health Ed Pros to bring Here We Grow! To our 4th grade students and The Facts of Life to our 5th grade students. Below is more information on these programs. All instruction is developmentally appropriate and aligns with the national and state academic standards for health and wellness.
4th and 5th grade programs will be scheduled during the second semester. North’s sessions will be on February 11, 2022, and a required opt-in form will be sent home prior to the program session.
Noblesville Schools Virtual Parent Night is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12th at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is open to all parents of 4th and 5th grade students. Children should not attend this meeting. This will be an opportunity for parents to learn more about the presentation and ask questions about the program. Register for this virtual preview session by clicking here.
Here We Grow! 4th Grade Program: A human growth and development program which targets 4th grade students and their journey through puberty. Classes are separated by gender to allow students the opportunity to ask questions more comfortably. The primary focus of this program centers around heredity, hormones, and hygiene, along with a brief overview of the male and female reproductive systems.
The Facts of Life a 5th Grade Program: A human growth and development program which targets fifth grade students and their journey through puberty. Classes are separated by gender to allow students the opportunity to ask questions more comfortably. The program includes an overview of the male and female reproductive systems, review of all body systems, the process of human reproduction from fertilization to birth, and how their body grows and changes during puberty.
