Thanksgiving Break
School will be closed this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (November 22nd, 23rd, and 24th) for Thanksgiving. Please enjoy this time with your family

Here's What We're Learning this Week
First Grade
Reading/Writing- The students will continue to read nonfiction books, but we will be focusing on asking and answering questions from the text.
Math- The students will be practicing doubles facts!
Science- We will be closing up our light and sound unit soon.
Second Grade
Reading/Writing- Students will be reading stories about the importance of being generous to others. Students will also be working on soft c and soft g in phonics. Finally, students will working on connecting the stories to their lives.
Math- Students will be creating and reading line plots on a graph and then using that graph to answer questions.
Science- Students will be continuing learning about earth's surfaces. Students will also be creating a project that describes slow and quick changes with the earth's surface.
Third Grade
Reading/Writing- Students will continue to identify and cite relevant implicit and explicit information from a summary to determine the central idea of a text. Students are also still working on making a claim and supporting it with details from the text.
Math- Students are working to recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement. They are also measuring areas by counting unit squares.
Social Studies- We will discussing the history of Thanksgiving.
Fifth Grade
Reading/Writing- Students will be reading a book called "Balloons Over Broadway" and doing activities involving the book!
Math- Students will begin the division unit and be able to divide three digit by two digit numbers.
Science- Students can explain the role earthworms play in an ecosystem.
Social Studies- Students will be studying the life of John Adams.

SBDM Update (UPDATED FROM LAST WEEK)
The School Based Decision Making Council at FES is made up of the principal (Ryan Burch), three teachers (Alicia Bachman, Abbigail Supe, and Megan Timmerding), and two parents (Alicia Coulter and Vee Miller). This group makes policy decisions and approves some of the school's financial and instructional activities. Meetings are usually held on the first Monday of each month at 4:15 in the FES library. Meetings are open to the public (except for occasional closed sessions).
The November meeting will be held November 6th at 4:15 in the FES library and are open to the public. Click here for the November SBDM agenda.
