1st Nine Weeks!
The first three weeks of school have flown by and lots of learning, relationships, and routines and procedures have gotten under way. I hoped you have felt welcome and enjoyed the positive phone calls our teachers have been making via phone and Remind.
We have grown so much since last year. Many of our rooms have more students than we anticipated due to newly growing Crippen communities, and we have added some additional special education programs to our campus. Since this is elementary school, we are teaching social emotional skills and socially appropriate behavior to all students while still focusing on academics. Thank you for helping partner with us to make this a great school year.
Starting this week, all classes will have two designated restroom breaks to teach proper handwashing techniques, refill water bottles brought from home, and to help monitor safety. We will also try to social distance, to the best of our building capability, in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch. Masks are encouraged, but not required. Masks will be available in the front office upon request for any students wanting one. Should your student be out ill or quarantined and want to continue learning, all PK-5 teachers will be publishing content in Canvas by this Wednesday if you would like learning to continue. This Canvas content option is also available for ANY student who wants extra help reviewing concepts in class, remediation, or extension as well. Car Rider Line This Year
In the morning starting at 6:45 AM, students may be dropped off at the front of the school. At 7:00 AM, once the buses have left the parking lot, you may drop off in the bus lane. Please look at the Aerial View link below to see the route. For drop-off after 7:30, please park in the parking lot and escort your student in. The side doors are locked at 7:30 a.m.
At dismissal, students and parents should be listening for directions about which cone to use at the front of the school. As stated in the parent handbook, parents must have the correct car tag hanging to pick up their child. In order to ensure the safety of all, we ask that parents not walk to the front doors to collect their children. Students will not be released in this manner.

This year our counseling program will continue to expand! I regularly provide guidance classroom lessons to all students on various topics. So keep an eye out for Counseling Letters from me that share the topic and skills discussed during guidance. To stay connected on the 7 mindset program please refer to the September Parent Newsletter. This month we will be focusing on the Passion First Mindset. Students will learn that we are all unique expressions of human existence.
Also as we begin a new school year, many students feel anxious either from moving schools, teachers, classrooms, being separated from parents, or from the difficulty of work. As a parent, it can be stressful and concerning to see your student adapt to these changes. After all, time is the best healer, but what kid wants to hear that? Try some of these kid-friendly books that may touch on the issues you see your student struggling with:
