Keller ISD Fine Arts Notes

Trinity Springs Middle School and Indian Springs Middle School Bands recently received the "National Wind Band" distinction from the Foundation for Music Education's "Mark of Excellence" competition.

This award recognizes the top fifty bands who entered the national contest. Bands who qualify for this award will be included on a recording produced by Mark Custom Recordings, and will be available for public download later this year.

Congratulations to directors David Puckett and Dean Surface, the band staffs, and all of the students who took part in earning this national recognition!

The Central High School Speech and Debate Team competed at Lovejoy High School Texas Forensic Association Individual Qualifying Tournament on September 19th, and took home the 1st Place - Team Sweepstakes, out of 34 Schools.

The annual KISD Marching Expo is set to take place on Tuesday, September 29, at the Keller ISD Stadium! Come out and watch the high school bands as they present their 2015 UIL contest shows! Every middle school band in Keller ISD will perform as well!

The In-n-Out truck will be serving burgers, chips, and drinks starting at 6:00 pm! Cost is $5 per person and quantities are limited!

Get your tickets in advance from any high school or middle school band!

This painting was created by former FRHS student Shenna Padayao and given to say "thank you" to art instructor Chris Brown.

Shenna agreed to allow us to share the letter she wrote on the back of the painting:

Thank you for being my teacher. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to reach my dream of becoming an artist.

When all others told me otherwise, you saw talent in me that I've never acknowledged.

The only reason I had hope for my future was because you encouraged me day to day. I've been scared throughout all of my high school years that I was following a path I knew wasn't for me. To become a surgeon, doctor, or engineer for the money. I cried almost every night about my future and what I was going to do with the rest of my life. What I was going to spend the years of my life doing. Never did I think that I was good enough to do what I loved. But even when all others told me I would never be an artist-you believed in me. You're the reason why I'm going to pursue my dream, and why I believe in myself. I'm not so scared anymore.

Thank you for being my teacher.
