Did You Know that October is Bullying Prevention Month?
During this time, we will be educating ourselves on how to stand up and speak out regarding bullying behaviors. Let's help end this behavior once and for all.
How would you end bullying? What can you do to help and educate our world? We welcome your ideas and awesome artwork depicting anti-bullying to share with students throughout the month. All submissions can be sent to tshull@lexington1.net.
October Top Tips to Assist with Success!
- Check Schoology DAILY to make sure all work is being completed
- Clean out your backpack - Backpacks are getting pretty messy. Take the time to clean it out and put those papers in the appropriate sections of your AVID binder.
- Check PowerSchool often to make sure you do not have any missing assignments or low grades that you need to pull up. The end of the nine weeks is Oct. 10.
- Charge iPad every night. This is our most used learning tool.
- Cell Phones - Turn them off at a certain time each night. Cell phones should remain in your book bag during class time to minimize distractions to learning.
- Organization - All students should have an AVID notebook that they use in every class. Check out the picture below to assist with creating a well-organized binder.
- Replenish pencils and paper. Many students are beginning to run out of these important supplies. A quick check to make sure each student has enough pencils and paper for class is a great help to all!
- Check Email Daily - Many teachers and staff members send emails with important information throughout the week. You don't want to miss something, so be sure to check it often.

Goal Setting!
One of the strategies that helps students be most successful is making goals and planning how to accomplish them. At WKMS, we believe in the power of goal-setting. Parents and guardians, we challenge you to take a couple of minutes to speak with your children about the goals you have set in your life and how it impacted you.
