Panther Pride News is published weekly to keep all members of the school community informed and involved.

Congratulations to all the students who earned Honor Roll status for the 3rd quarter. With over half the student body earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher, the teachers and staff are extremely pleased with the consistently high level of commitment to excellence. As we head into the final two months of the school year, we are hopeful that the celebration of our Honor Roll students helps to inspire all students to work hard and to FINISH STRONG. Go Panthers!

Next week is Mears second week of staff testing. Beginning on Monday both 7th and 8th graders will take the STAR test for reading proficiency. The school schedule has been adjusted to allow students with enough time to take the assessment, while in their own classrooms with their own teachers (see above). Using the same schedule, Mears 7th and 8th graders will take the STAR Math test next week.

The Anchorage School District's Fine Arts Department is proud to present the 51st annual student art show, in celebration of National Youth Art Month. Student work will be on display around our community March 3 - April 7, 2023. The opening reception will take place at the Anchorage Museum on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 6:00-9:00pm. Admission is complimentary to the public.

8th Graders - LISTEN UP - Elective course requesting window is OPEN. It closes 3/24. Log in to your Q Student Connect and confirm you have at least 6 semesters worth. Also take a glance at the DHS shared folder. There is lots of helpful information and forms. Remember Honors requires a 3.5 GPA and teacher rec. Only Social Studies requires an application - see shared folder below.

Using the library during lunch will be very limited during the 4th quarter because of state and district testing. Please check the signs on the door to see if passes are available for the day. Students must have a pass to spend time in the library during lunch. Passes are handed out after first period. Always eat BEFORE you come to the library.
