Dear Families-Read on for the News
Silverwood Read2Ride K-6
It's that time of the year where your student can earn a free Silverwood ticket, through Silverwood's Read2Ride program. Earlier this week, your student was sent home with a Read2Ride reading log. Use this log to track at least 10 hours of reading from now till March 29th. Your student can read (or be read to) any book, comic book, magazines, newspapers, and online reading, to reach their goal of 10 hours. All students must submit their hours to their teachers by March 29th to receive a free ticket. All tickets will be emailed to the parents after March 31st.
Extra reading logs have been put in the Pickup Shed for anyone who needs a copy. I have linked the Read2Ride guide below for further instructions and fun printouts. Please make note that the guide states the program ends March 31st, but you need to have your logs to your teacher by March 29th, so the school can submit each student to the program. If you have any questions please contact the office. Happy Reading!
Updating Chromebook
If you are having trouble with a chromebook, please update Chrome OS. To do that, log in your student. Click on the bottom right oval. Click on the Settings gear. (You must be logged in to see the Settings gear.) Find About Chrome and click on it. Then click on Check for updates. It should update to version 88.0.4324.186. You'll need to restart the chromebook immediately after it updates. If you check for updates again, it should say your chromebook is up to date.
If you are having trouble with iStation loading, update your chromebook and restart it as explained above. After rebooting, click on the Apps grid on the bottom left of the screen. (You must be logged out to see the Apps grid.) Select iStation. It may freeze at the copyright window. Leave the computer at that screen and the chromebook plugged in, on, and open. It may take a long time for iStation to update. When it has, you will see the main screen that allows you to log in or exit.
The tags on chromebooks should not be peeled off. Please ensure that your students leave the tags on their chromebooks. Please call or email the office if you have any questions.
