UEN's Professional Development Team is excited to share their Fall 2023 courses. If you want to learn more about filmmaking, podcasting, Google, creativity, Minecraft, animations, design thinking, and more, come join UEN's PD Team. Each course is a six-week synchronous course that works through specific tools and ideas to support your classroom. All courses are free for all Utah educators and educators who complete their course will be eligible for USBE re-licensure hours or Southern Utah University credit. The Utah Teacher Fellows recently completed their third cohort and UEN Product Manager Kayla Towner was among those who completed their capstone. Check out her reflection below:

The final convening of Teacher Fellows Cohort 3 was an exciting yet bittersweet event. After two years of learning and growing alongside so many incredible educators, I had a new perspective on leadership in education. I learned that teachers don't have to become administrators to be leaders. There are many different ways to lead in education, and I'm living proof of that.

After leaving the classroom, I became a senior technology trainer and product manager for Utah Education Network. In this role, I'm able to use my experience as a teacher to support all K-12 teachers in Utah. I create videos and reels on Utah's Online School Library to showcase how teachers can use these resources in their classrooms. I also worked with ULEAD to promote the work of other teachers in the state so that any teacher could learn, use, and adapt their brilliant ideas.

Even though my time with Cohort 3 has ended, the networks I've built, the discussions I've started, and the future projects I've initiated will continue. The work of a fellow never ends. As they always say, "Once a fellow, always a fellow."

As part of her work through the Utah Teacher Fellows, Kayla received an Honors In Education award from First Lady Abby Cox's Show Up for Teachers program.

Educators are increasingly expected to exhibit skills and knowledge of using technology to enhance student learning. The UEN Educational Technology Endorsement Program is grounded in the USBE EdTech Competencies and the Utah Effective Teaching Standards. The Competency-Based Educational Technology Endorsement is divided into four courses. Participants will come away with a portfolio of work that aligns with each competency.
