Stars Football Family -

Fall is in full swing and I hope you are enjoying the ride. Just got done putting my Halloween decorations up in the crisp autumn air. Never thought I would be that guy with the cemetery in his front yard and fake skeleton waiving hello but alas here we are! As we move into the month of October I want to take a moment to reflect on the great things that happened in September.

Our Freshmen team has battled in every game played and recorded their third victory of the season over lake park. 2 kick returns, great defense, and timely offense rounded out their final game of September!

Our Sophomore team recorded their first victory and set new records in both passings and yards receiving!

It is no secret that our Varsity is having a special year. It is fun to watch a team's maturation process through the months. It is an honor to work with this group of players and staff each and every day! I want to be the first to congratulate them on becoming playoff eligible with their 5th win of the season. That is goal #1 from November on. I hope they take a moment to appreciate this accomplishment. Knowing this group they will be happy but far from satisfied. I love it!

Finally, this week is our Kick-A-Thon event with our cross-town friends. Our school has numerous events going on throughout the week. I will highlight some here, but for more information please refer to the school website.

Tuesday: Krispy Kreme Donuts (the program has bought a donut for all players when they arrive at school )

Wednesday: Food Truck Night, 5-8 pm there will be food trucks for families and foodies alike to enjoy.

Thursday: all practices will be held in the morning due to PTC please refer to the calendar below and your level calendars for further information

Friday: NO SCHOOL

Players who qualified for the BWW's wing party get ready! Tuesday after practice 5:30pm wings will be served in the team room for those who sold enough cards. Level Head Coaches will be sending out a list via classroom.

With parent-teacher conferences are being held from 11-7 pm on Thursday. Our practices will have to be in the morning. We are looking to organize a level grab-and-go breakfast opportunity for our kids after their practice. The 4th phase parent group is looking for easy premade breakfast items that we can feed to our athletes. Here is a list of items we can work from but are not limited to.

I apologize for the extremely long delay in delivery for all of our BSN sales. I have spoken to our representative, and he assured me the items would be shipping this week to homes. My concern has been their inability to fill complete orders. Please review your order when it arrives. If there is a highlighted tag with a circle around the item, it has not arrived. This issue has been recognized as an unacceptable representation of the Stars football brand, and I can assure changes will be made with suppliers in the future.

Our program prioritizes the first 20 minutes of practice to a program connection every Wednesday. We call it Program Day, and during that time, we highlight each level and talk about our journey. Our captains deliver a message for the week and our coaches have an open mic to discuss anything that they feel is relatable to the week. It is always a very special time and one I cherish as an opportunity to connect our program. Here are some highlights

In the IHSA, not every team will make the 7a playoffs. Only 32 teams get the honor of being in a playoff. Essentially, it is like winning a regional championship to get in. To determine who gets into the playoffs, the IHSA has a set of rules.

1. 5 wins make a team playoff eligible

2. 6 wins is an automatic bid

3. Conference champion is an automatic bid

4. Seeding is based on records and the points

5. 1 point is awarded to the team for every win on their schedule

ie Palatine 5-1 LZ 5-1 WWS 2-4 GENEVA 5-1 WN 5-1 LP 1-5 = 23 PTS

The playoff pairing show is held the Saturday after the season's final game. This year the date is 10.22.22. Our program will celebrate this event with a team viewing session from 7 pm -9 pm in the cafe open to all levels of the SCN football family. More details will be forth coming.

Jordan Nubin '20 continues to get carries as the Golden Gophers have now improved to 3-0

This past Saturday, the NU Wildcats bested the Cornhuskers from Nebraska in a week 0 special. The game was played in Dublin, Ireland. Congrat Carmine

Junior DB Tyler Nubin is on the Recee's Bowl Senior Watch list. This is a high honor as the Senior Bowl is the premier senior showcase for potential NFL players. Congrats Tyler
