The Reindeer Games Continue...
Spirit month is still going strong with our staff (and students) participating in five more ridiculous days of holiday cheer. This week we had "Dress like a reindeer," "Wear your favorite winter hat/scarves/socks," "Pajama day," "Favorite plaid," and "Jeans + Holiday sweater." Stay tuned for next week's shenanigans!
Ms. Valentine
Preschool experienced the treat of Ms. Valentine's extra "ears"!
Mrs. O'Shea + Ms. Smith
Both of our office staff members found their version of reindeer spirit!
Ms. Jones and Mrs. Ayeni
Rudolf would have been proud!
Ms. Schulz + Ms. Hill
If you take a closer look at the wardrobes of these two staff members, you'll notice lots of twinning days throughout the whole school year, but this was a special case!
Ms. Ivory + Ms. Willard
It was a combination of pajama day and plaid day for this dynamic duo
Ms. Smith + Ms. Jackson
It was a day of plaid pride throughout the building this week, and Ms. Jackson had to go the extra mile with the Santa hat!
Lots of fun was happening throughout Patrick Henry this week!
Students were caught in the act of having fun all over the building this week! From academic focus to teamwork during recess, our students have fun throughout the school day. We are excited to see not only our non-academic tasks bringing our students joy, but also our academic tasks! Our students are proud of their work - and for good reason!
SIPPS Pride
Our kindergarteners showed off their letter writing skills with happiness and holiday joy!
Indoor Recess
Honor and Keith worked together to build an awesome tower in Ms. Jones' room during a chilly day with indoor recess!
Music Compositions
First graders had the opportunity to create their own Nutcracker compositions in Mrs. Terrance's music class!
Reading with the Principal
Laylah got to read with Dr. Rogers and found a magical dollhouse on the bookshelf!
Highlight on Ms. Williams' Math Techniques
This week, students in upper elementary have been taking so many tests to assess their current levels in reading and math. When I popped into Ms. Williams' fifth grade class, I got to see a wide variety of techniques to get students comfortable during their testing experience and in their assessment environment. Kudos to Ms. Williams for providing flexible options for her students!
Dry Erase
Did you know our desks can handle dry erase markers on their surface? Students were able to use their desk as their scratch paper!
Comfy seating
Students were able to get comfortable while they took their test (don't worry - I made sure he was awake!)
Thinking it through
Students worked through their problems with trial and error, and with the ease of erasing mistakes or ideas. Doesn't it make you want to draw all over the desk?! Not these fifth graders - they were focused and on task!
Bigger work surface
Sometimes shifting your perspective and seeing your work displayed on the big white board helps you see the process with more clarity.
5th Graders are on their way to middle school!
Have you seen Ms. Williams' new bulletin board? Our students are submitting their middle school applications and making big decisions for their futures. Keep them encouraged and ask them where they're heading next year!
