Greenville Splash Masters

Over one third of adults in the United States cannot swim the length of the pool.

Greenville Splash wants to change that in our community!

We have 60 swimmers ready to begin free swim lessons and embark on a new journey of learning something new, conquering fears and improving skills and fitness levels. Our adult learn to swim program will be held at Westside Aquatic Complex on Wednesday evenings April 5 to May 10th. We are very grateful to Westside for allowing us to use the therapy pool for the lessons and to our wonderful volunteers. Our sixteen fabulous volunteers are: Leah Aragon, Barbara Barber, Amy Browning, Allan Byer, David Hall, Doug Long, Mark Kothe, Carolyn Moore, Casey Oliver, Melissa Patterson, Judi Rich, Leslie Scott, Allyson Seitzer, Tyler Sites, Claire Walker, and Kim Williams.

We had a fantastic turnout for our team social at Quest Brewery. Quest is a big supporter of the Upstate Splash. The owner gave an informative talk about their business and commitment to the environment and the community. It was fun to see so many swimmers outside of the pool!

Splashing Accomplishments:

Molly Willingham competed at the Dynamo Short Course Yards Invitational. She rocked three 200's in one day: fly, back and free along with some 50 sprints!

We are off to an awesome start of the triathlon season with Eric Mitchell and Allen Rhodes competing at the Parris Island Triathlon in stellar form!

Upstate Splash Charity

We are proud to recognize Alex Biere as swimmer of the month! Alex started swimming with us last summer during his business trips for BMW from Germany. He and his wife Miriam moved to Greenville for a 3 year assignment in September and have been an awesome addition to the team. (Miriam swims too!) Alex has already swam in his first American open water event (Upstate Splash) and his first American swim meet. Alex has excellent attendance at Westside workouts. He leads the lane and always makes his lane mates swim faster intervals than they really want to. He loves relays and racing others as long as they don't get a head start. Alex has the best sense of humor and an extremely quick wit especially considering he has to navigate through a different culture and language. Alex and Miriam can be found at our team socials. Make sure to introduce yourself and throw a funny English idiom his way. Alex will quickly put it into his translator app to have a funny comeback. We admire how fast Alex swims; but love the way he makes everyone smile and laugh even more!

Carolyn Moore and Steve Scott award a check to the Aquatic Director, Madison Wesley at the Anderson YMCA. The funds will be used for the Spring Break Water Safety Week Kids Camp. This camp reaches out to underprivileged kids and gives them a week of fun at the Y to learn water safety and learn how to swim.

Team Social Main Street Fridays at Noma Square. Come meet your teammates and listen to great music. In case of rain we will go to Kilpatrick's right across from the Hyatt downtown.
