New Range Copper Nickel Mining for Excellence Scholarships (Previously the Polymet Mining for Excellence Scholarship) Deadline: Jan 15

Scholarships of $5,000 for STEM or Trade students:
STEM Scholarship:
This scholarship is designed for students pursuing a future in STEM fields. Whether you aspire to be a scientist, engineer, programmer, mathematician, or researcher, this scholarship is aimed at helping you achieve your STEM-related dreams.

Trades Scholarship:
The Trades Scholarship is tailored for students with a strong interest in skilled trades, including areas such as welding, hydraulics, mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and more. If you’re passionate about hands-on skills and want to excel in a trade, this scholarship is for you.

Seniors can apply for $4000 scholarships ($1000 renewable for 4 years)

OPENS Jan 1 and CLOSES: Jan 31

Parent/Guardian must be a member of Lake Country Power; GPA 2.5 or higher. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation required. [Application information is available now to look at but actual portal will open on Jan 1. ]

Seniors in NE MN counties may qualify for up to $24,000 distributed over eight semesters ($3,000 per semester)

• ACT 24 or higher
• pursuing a 4 year degree
• GPA of 3.5 or higher
• commit to a major in a STEM field of study
• Family income less than $175k (under taxable income IRS 1040 Pg 2)
• Letter of recommendation from a Math or Science Teacher

Mediacom World Class Scholars Scholarship Program: Deadline: Jan 31

• ALL HS Seniors graduating in 2024 and live in a Mediacom service area are eligible. (Grand Rapids is in the service area and you do NOT have to be a Mediacom customer to apply)
• Awards are $1000; 60 students awarded last year total all states and 7 were from Minnesota.

Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation Scholarships Deadline February 15

• Select Grand Rapids HS to see the 19 scholarships are available; Scholarships range up to $5000

Repeat: Wabana Township Community Fund Scholarship. Deadline April 19

  Applicant must be a resident of Wabana Township and be pursuing their first or second year of post-secondary education in the fall of 2023.
