Math with Mrs. Skiba

I have a class website where students and guardians can quickly access information. You will be able to see our class calendar, daily notes and links to newsletters. Additionally, I have created an Amazon Class Wish List. I have told students if they feel that anything should be added to our classroom to let me know and I will add it. I will be continually adding items throughout the year. Please do not feel obligated to make a purchase, but all donations are appreciated. Continual desired items include antibacterial wipes, kleenex, pencils and lined paper.

Please check PowerSchool weekly to stay up to date on your student's grades and missing work. PowerSchool will be your best resource to track your student's progress. Assignments are entered into Google Classroom but often times students forget to electronically mark they have been turned in so they will say they are late and/or missing when they have actually been turned in and graded. If you have any questions, please let me know.

This week we began Chapter 4: Equations and Inequalities. We studied Lesson 4.1: Addition and Subtraction Equations and Lesson 4.2: Multiplication and Division Equations. If your student would like additional resources for support I recommend the BIM website and Khan Academy. (Addition and Subtraction Equations and Multiplication and Division Equations.)

Chapter 4 has 7 lessons and will be split into two separate 100 point assessments. Lessons 4.1-4.3 and Lessons 4.4-4.7. There will not be a quiz during Chapter 4. The first assessment will be on December 14th and the second assessment will be after winter break.

Next week we will be taking the NWEA MAP test. We will take this assessment on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This is our benchmark to help measure growth throughout the year. Please make sure that student remembers to come to school with a fully charged Chromebook. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

On Thursday, we will review Lessons 4.1 and 4.2 and on Friday we will begin Lesson 4.3: Write and Solve Two Step Equations. If your student would like additional resources for support I recommend the BIM website and Khan Academy. (Two Step Equations)
