The Career Development Hospitality Class students in conjunction with the students’ Connect and Process Group, the EHS Art Department faculty and students, and the Cultural Family Advocates, along with other faculty and staff have been working together to create a meaningful Black History Month in February 2022 for our students and school.

Our morning announcements in February have included Black History trivia, our halls have been decorated with photos of change makers and their bios, our main stairwell and TV’s around the building have on-going slideshows highlighting local Black business owners, entrepreneurs, and legislatures. The Eagan HS Instrumental Music program has participated in a pair of consortiums that have boosted our Black Composer repertoire. One, the Black Composer Revival consortium; involved our Instrumental Music program participating for 2021-2022 and our director has committed to 2022-2023 and will use next year’s materials with Symphonic Band. This year, Symphonic Band will be playing one of the pieces in March while, on the same concert, the Symphonic Band will combine with Concert Band to perform a work from our other consortium that was written by Ayatay Shabazz about the Tuskegee Airmen. We have been featuring our composers, one per week, on the TV screen down by the band room.

This has been an exciting journey because it has authentically integrated cultural context directly into our curriculum.

Please join us for the next installment of the ActioNOW! High School Series on Thursday, February 17, 6-8 p.m. at Rosemount High School, SAVE THE DATE! This free, family-friendly event is hosted by the District 196 African-American Cultural Family Advocates and the Equity and Inclusion Department, in partnership with the district RHS.

ActioNOW! Is an event where the community comes together to celebrate African-American culture through performances, activities, dialogue and food. Other activities will include community booths and a gift basket raffle. Please join us, all are welcome!

The Eagan Community Foundation would like to invite our District 196 family and friends to our Annual Fundraiser. Our mission is to invest in Eagan's future with community grants, scholarships, and community connections.

This is an essential evening celebrating our community with dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions and community fellowship. Funds raised at this event will support our community grants and scholarship programs.

Online application and payment for the EHS Spring Trimester 2022 Parking Permit begins on Monday February 21, 2022 at 5 PM for seniors only.

Application and payment for juniors begins on Monday February 28, 2022 at 5 PM.

Parents and guardians can pay the Parking Tag fee ($80) from the convenience of your computer, via MyPaymentsPlus. The link for MyPaymentsPlus can be found on the EHS website under Families tab at the top of the webpage.

Parking permits for Spring Trimester 2022 will be distributed on Monday March 7th and Tuesday March 8th before school in the lower east entrance of EHS as well as during all lunches in Spirit Hall.

Parking permits are awarded on a first come first serve basis.

Sophomores are not eligible for parking permits.

The EHS Science Olympiad team competed in the regional tournament. The students had an amazing day and took 1st place overall in the competition. They will be competing in the state tournament on March 5th. CONGRATULATIONS!

The Escape the Vape Video Content is accepting submissions now through the month of February. Minnesota 6th-12th graders can use their voice to raise awareness about the dangers of vaping by creating short 30-second PSA videos. Videos will educate their peers, schools, families, and community on the risks of vaping nicotine.

This year’s contest is expanded to include more students, and new tools will be available for school to engage students.

Specific COVID-19 information, including data of student positive cases, school-specific cases, county cases and vaccination rate, is updated weekly on our COVID-19 Dashboard available on all school websites. (Be sure to scroll down the site until you can click on High Schools). School COVID-19 teams will no longer send case notifications to families. Families must maintain personal mitigation efforts, with or without a notification , and direct their attention to monitoring symptoms, keeping students home when sick and frequent screening as necessary.

We need all community members to care for each other and their community by practicing universal precautions:

• Monitor for symptoms every day
• Stay home when sick and test
• Get vaccinated and boosted as soon as you are eligible
• Test frequently for COVID-19
• Wear a well-fitting mask

These mitigation strategies are repeated frequently to members of our learning community, but remain the most effective strategy. We recommend parents to check the COVID-19 dashboard regularly for updates, as well as using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s daily county case rate tracker.

Please remind students that all of us at school must be masked, and wearing them across our nose and mouths, at Eagan High School. We remind students often, but also need your support to keep all of us safe and at school. We are providing masks as needed to all students every day. Thanks!
