News of the week from the CDHS Band Program!
Announcements for January 13th, 2025.
We are moving fast into 2025! It's IndoorRAM-a week!!! Please see the announcements below and I look forward to a great musical and profitable weekend:
IndoorRAMa Time To Sign Ups and Volunteering: Coming up on Saturday, January 18th, 2024, the CDHS Band program will be hosting our annual IndoorRAMa show. This Indoor Color Guard and Percussion show raised funds for the ENTIRE CDHS band program. We need all hands on deck to help make this day a success. Thank you for your support!

Chaperone's and adult travelers- All chaperone's/adult travelers that will be going with us need to have gone through the volunteer clearance and badge process with the district. That process can be found here. Please note that I will eventually need a copy of your volunteer badge . I will need this by January 15th. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
DCMEA County Band Auditions- TUESDAY (TODAY when the update was sent out!!!) is the last day to submit audition videos for DCMEA Countuy Band. Thank you to all the students who signed up to audition for DCMEA County band being held at Hershey School District. The online audition process is now open. Please read and follow the audition guidelines below to submit your best audition video. If you have any problems during the process, please make sure to reach out to Mr. Tate. The last day to submit audition videos is Tuesday, January 14th at 11:59pm.
Video Submission Guidelines
Videos must be submitted as an attachment through the Google Forms linked below.
Only registered students may participate.
Each student must submit one continuous video containing all audition materials.
Videos cannot be edited or spliced together from multiple takes.
Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes.
Performance Order:
Play Scale/Rudiment 1 as instructed.
Play Scale/Rudiment 2 as instructed.
(Winds/Mallets) Play the chromatic scale.
Play the audition excerpt as instructed.
Recording Tips:
Ensure good audio quality by using a quiet location with minimal background noise.
Position the recording device 3–6 feet from the student to capture clear sound without distortion.
Avoid covering the microphone or placing it on a surface that might muffle the audio.
Test the recording setup to showcase the student’s best tone quality.
Restart Policy: To reduce stress, we will use the same restart policy as in-person auditions:
Scales/Rudiments: One restart per scale is allowed. The second attempt will be judged.
Audition Excerpts:
Students may restart once per excerpt.
If restarting before the midpoint, they must start from the beginning.
If restarting after the midpoint, they must restart from the midpoint.
Pre-Slotted Students: Students pre-slotted into County Band from District Band must record a video to confirm their seat.
Video example: “Hi, my name is ________, and I am accepting my pre-slotted seat in County Band.”
Failure to submit this video will result in forfeiture of the seat.

VA Trip Student Room Sign Ups- Are now closed! I will be assigning rooms for students who have not signed up yet.
R&K Subs Fundraiser: Our R&K Subs fundraiser is underway! Orders are due to the box Tuesday, January 21st. Pick-up will be on Thursday, January 31st from 3:30-6:00 PM. Please find the order form below!
This is a great opportunity to add funds to your student account. Each sandwich/sub sold adds $1.60 into your student account. Your student account can be used to cover band related expenses such as the future trips, marching band shirts/shoes, drum line dues, lessons, and other financial obligations needed for band activities. Band Officer Bake Sales:
A message from our student band officers:
We need your help to make our bake sales a success! When our monthly bake sale comes around the following items are much-needed and greatly appreciated donations:
- Cookies
- Brownies
- Cupcakes (Store bought; full size or mini)
- Rice Krispie Treats
Chocolate-covered pretzels
- Fudge
- Any other baked goods…
** Any homemade goods must be individually packaged **
Bake Sale Dates:
- Monday, January 13th
- Friday, February 7th + Monday, February 10th
- Friday, March 7th + Monday, March 10th
Friday, May 9th + Monday, May 12th
If you wish to donate baked goods to any of our bake sales, please bring or have the donations brought to Mr. Tate's office the day before or the day of the bake sale.
