ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of September 11, 2022
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL
Freshmen beat Hammonton, but lost to Lenape. JV battled Hammonton to a 3-set loss and lost 1-2 against Lenape. Both their records are 2-2.
FIELD HOCKEY
The team fell to Clearview on Saturday bringing their record to 1-1 and Ocean City in a last minute goal on Wednesday.
BOYS' SOCCER
EHTHS Varsity Boys' Soccer kicked off the 2022 Season with a Shutout victory over Division foe, Bridgeton. After a long drive to Bridgeton, the Eagles awoke in the second half and tallied three goals while keeping the shutout. Gilmer Mendoza had the game winner, Nate Biersbach and Ryan Evenson each tallied an insurance goal each. Brett Barnes made three saves in keeping a clean sheet.
On Tuesday the Eagles hosted the Hermits of St. Augustine. The much-anticipated rival game was played with intensity, physicality and pride. EHT had several early chances but could not capitalize, the score remained nil nil after 40 minutes. Throughout the second half of play, the Eagles applied the pressure and attack. The Hermits were on their heels as the Eagles continued but could not find the back of the net. In the 75th minute the Hermits snuck a goal in after a foul was committed 40 yards away from the goal. The Eagles lost 1-0. Brett Barnes made 5 saves.
GIRLS' SOCCER
Varsity Girls' Soccer Record: 1-2
EHT opened the season with a huge 3-1 victory over the mustangs of Mainland! Junior captain Gabriella Piantadosi netted all three goals for EHT: one off a penalty kick, one off a header on a corner kick, and one on a shot from distance to ice the game. Freshman Brielle VonColln recorded two assists. Sophomore Abby Lyon had 8 saves in net. Freshmen Ali Weller and Dakota Gorman, sophomores Kira Jolly and Ava Kraybill, and senior Lona Dillhoff locked down Mainland's attack on defense.
JV Girls' Soccer 1-2: The team beat Vineland on Thursday 1-0 for their first win of the season. Daniela Ramirez scored the lone goal on an assist from Isabella DeCosta and GK Adriana Nguyen had the shutout. They will play in the Cedar Creek JV Jamboree on Saturday.
GIRLS' TENNIS
VARSITY FOOTBALL
The Eagles won their home opener 56-0 against Bridgeton High School on Friday night. Dylan Camp scored a TD on a block punt and had a rushing TD. Mike Simeon scored on a 2 point play. Christian Rando threw touchdown passes to Xavier Bullock and D.J. Germann. Ke’mun Council, Chris Griffin and Brian Tennet each scored rushing touchdowns. Bradley Smith connected with JayNelly Reyes for a deep touchdown pass. Joe Martin added extra points.
The JV team beat Bridgeton on Monday 12-6 to improve to 1-1. They host Absegami on Monday at 4:00 on the turf.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Girls' XC team also defeated Bridgeton to improve to 2-0 on the season. The girls also won the Cherokee Challenge on Sunday for the first time in school history!

REGISTRATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL WINTER SPORTS IS NOW OPEN!
Winter 1 sports include Boys' and Girls' Basketball, Wrestling, and Unified Bowling.
Winter 2 sports includes Co-ed Volleyball and Unified Basketball. Registration will open Dec. 1 and practices will begin February 21.
