NewsFlash - Nov. 3
Town of Sunnyvale - Nov. 3, 2023
Sunnyvale Homeowners Will See Utility Bill Savings
During this year's budget process, Town leadership found ways to save you money while improving Town services. One of those opportunities will show up in your wastewater utility bill.
A new winter sewer average was adopted which calculates your wastewater charge based on your water consumption during the months of December, January and February. This will help offset a water rate increase from the North Texas Municipal Water District and save the average Sunnyvale homeowner approximately $235 annually. More information about the FY 2023-24 Town Budget is available on our website.
The Town Council also approved a 20% homestead exemption for Sunnyvale homeowners, which will save the average homeowner about $450 annually. Go to TownofSunnyvale.org/Homestead to learn more.

Road Construction - What To Expect Next Week
Project updates for Week of Nov. 6
Work is underway on $16.4 million worth of road improvement projects recently approved by the Sunnyvale Town Council.
Phase 2B and 2C include the repair and overlay of the following sections of asphalt roadway (dates are subject to change). This week's activity is scheduled to include:
- Town East Boulevard from Collins Road to Tower Place - Westbound is underway with final paving for both the eastbound and the westbound lanes expected to be completed by the early part of the week of 11/13. Please expect some delays during the final paving phase.
- East Fork (first Phase 2C project) between Gloria and Tripp is underway (southbound side) and is expected to reopen 11/8 weather permitting. Construction on the northbound side will then occur from 11/8 until approximately 11/20 weather permitting. Please plan on using Collins for traveling southbound and northbound through the Town.
- North Collins Road from Town East Boulevard to Barnes Bridge Road is ongoing (southbound side). Please plan on using Barnes Bridge/Polly/Town East in order to bypass the construction zone impacting southbound Collins.
The latest updates and a preview of upcoming activities are available at TownofSunnyvale.org/RoadProjects. Construction schedules can change with short notice. We appreciate your patience.
Mail Service - Construction operations could temporarily disrupt US Postal Service deliveries to some mailboxes in the construction area. The Supervisor of Delivery at the Mesquite Post Office confirmed that undelivered mail would be held at the Mesquite Post Office, 120 E. Grubb Dr. Post office hours can be found at their website.
Trash Service - For residents along the construction route, please make sure your trash containers are out by 7 a.m. on your assigned day. If the lane in front of your home is closed, please place your container across the street.

Sunnyvale Survey - Safety is a Community Strength
Earlier this year, more than 700 Sunnyvale residents shared their insights about our community through a "livability" survey.
Safety and safety-related services received strong ratings from residents, with about 9 in 10 giving excellent or good ratings to the overall feeling of safety in the Town.
A similar proportion felt that safety was essential or very important for the Town to focus on in the coming two years, receiving the highest level of importance out of all of the facets of community livability.
Residents generally feel safe in Sunnyvale, with roughly 9 in 10 reporting feeling very or somewhat safe in their neighborhood during the day and in the commercial area during the day. About 8 in 10 reported feeling safe from violent crime, property crime, fire, flood or other natural disasters.
Safety services received strong ratings from residents as well, with fire services receiving high marks from 9 in 10 residents. Animal control received positive ratings from about 8 in 10 residents, scoring higher than national averages. A similar proportion offered positive reviews of ambulance or emergency medical services, crime prevention, and police services, which were all on par with the national benchmarks.
These results were part of the National Community Survey. The full report is available at TownofSunnyvale.org/Survey.
