Message from Dr. Lewis

It's a GREAT day to be a Longhorn! It is my hopes this message finds you all well, and all of our scholars safe. Thank you very much to our Collegiate Prep families for showing me appreciation. I do not do this job for recognition, but to know many of you appreciate the sleepless nights, long hours, and the dedication I made to ensure your scholars future is bright means a lot to me! In an effort to continue our partnership next month I will be sending out the Youth Truth survey again. This survey will help me to ensure my staff is meeting your expectations.

Thanksgiving Luncheon

I am excited to announce Collegiate Prep's first family Thanksgiving luncheon! I am working with vendors on adult meal pricing, the maintenance department on tables/chairs, and the Cedar Hill ISD Police Department on extra security.

My vision is for families that want to, to be able to come to the school and have a Thanksgiving dinner during the school day with their scholar, teachers, and administration. I will send a separate email this week with all of the details. For sure all scholars will keep their same meal pricing on this day, and if a scholar eats free their meal will still be free. The only pricing that we are working on will be scholar pricing. My team is also working on designing a Thanksgiving family tshirt.

I have plans of meeting with department heads, vendors, and my team this week to finalize the details, so that you will have this information as soon as possible. The date will be released once all vendors have been confirmed.

Blackout Card Fundraiser

Our Blackout Card Fundraiser has ended. We appreciate all of the families that supported their scholars school and making sure we can provide opportunities for our scholars to experience more than the basic education. We will send tickets home one day this week with what they have earned.

PROGRAMS

CHCPPTA invites you to participate in the National PTA Reflections program. This year's theme is "Show Your Voice!" Scholars can submit entries in any of six different artistic categories, and have their work recognized and celebrated on a local, state, and national level! The National PTA School of Excellence recognition program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities. The program is committed to supporting and recognizing partnerships between local PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. This year we are aiming for our 3rd designation. Please take 5 minutes and complete our baseline survey.

Cool weather is on the horizon. HOODIE sales kicked off Wednesday, September 28th! Receive a discounted price AND save the tax when you take advantage of the pre-order period. Guarantee you get the size you want by placing your order by October 23rd.

All uniform patch and spirit shirt orders placed through Tuesday, September 20th have been delivered to scholars' classrooms. If you have not received your order - please check your scholar's belongings thoroughly, then reach out to their teacher to ensure the order is not still in the classroom. If you still do not have your order, please inquire by emailing sales@chcppta.org.

You can still place orders for spirit wear or uniform patches by clicking here. Going forward, orders will be delivered to your scholar within 5-7 days after being submitted.

Mrs. Tyler-Johnson

Greetings Prep Family,

My name is Mrs. Tyler-Johnson and I serve as the campus Instructional Facilitator. In my role I'm tasked with supporting teachers and scholars. I will be collaborating with our teachers this school year to help develop effective plans and provide engaging classroom experiences to help all scholars THRIVE. I will also support in the area of small group RLA intervention in grades 3-5. I'm a servant at heart so my desire is to help in assisting all that I serve reach their fullest potential.

A MESSAGE FROM THE LIBRARY

Scholars have been coming to the library for 5 weeks now and checking out books every week. Some scholars have been sent home with a Notice: Overdue Materials, Unpaid Fines sheet. A sample notice is pictured to the right. These notices were sent home with scholars that had books checked out last year but were never turned in or books the scholar checked out from other campuses but never turned in. If your scholar received a notice, it's purpose is to let parents know which book to look for at home. If the book is not found, the parent should sign the notice and the scholar will return the notice to the library. The overdue materials will be cleared from the scholar's account. If the book is found, the scholar will bring the book to the library and the overdue materials will be cleared from the scholar's account. The scholars will not be able to check out books again until either the notice or the books are returned. We hope that this will allow the records to be cleaned up and the library's use to go on seamlessly while reducing the fiscal cost to the library as much as we can by searching for the books. Scholars have been doing a great job learning how to check their own books in and out and learning where their favorite genres of books are located in our library.
