Career Day
As one of our final send offs for our 8th graders, De Portola Foundation hosts a Career Day for our 8th graders. Each class has two different speakers that discuss their education journey for their profession, the highlights of the profession, and the range of annual income (kids love that part). We are very grateful to our parent community for sharing their time and talents with our students. And, thank you to Andreanna Murphy and Lindsey Hudson for organizing this annual event.
YEARBOOKS
Yearbook Distribution was last Friday, June 9th, during 6th period. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, students can bring $55 EXACT CASH to the Financial Office starting after school on Friday the 9th. Yearbooks can then be purchased before school, during lunch, and after school until June 14th. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. McIntosh at smcintosh@sandi.net.
LCFF Data Collection
LCFF data collection for the 2023-24 school year is active in the PowerSchool
Parent Portal. The LCFF Form appears in the PowerSchool Parent Portal https://powerschool.sandi.net for all SDUSD school sites. The LCFF form is only available in the Parent Portal to parents, not students. A job aid is available for parents to assist with entering information for the LCFF Form. The LCFF Form will be available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese in the Parent Portal.
This 15 second task in Parent Portal determines site funding and is critical to our program at De Portola.
Textbook Return
LIBRARY UPDATE: We still have 27 students with outstanding books due back to the library. It's important to clear their accounts of over due items. Any 8th graders with outstanding fees will not be allowed to participate in Field Day. Those families have been notified.
ALSO Monday June 12 we will be collecting all laptop computers and chargers from students leaving the SDUSD.
The above listed requirements have been reviewed with all students. Additionally, students at risk of not participating in promotion have been notified by counselors, emails sent home, and a paper version was sent via USPS. There are no exceptions. If you have any concerns or questions about your student participating in promotion events, please contact your child's counselor. Students with last names A-L lhudson@sandi.net and students with last names M-Z aericson@sandi.net.

- No formal wear
- No hats or beanies

- All dresses and tops must have straps and mid sections cannot be exposed
Promotion
Gates open at 8:30 and we will have chairs set up outside. Please arrive as a group and do not save seats. Based on recent weather patterns, we don't anticipate a need for umbrellas. Families are permitted to set up lawn chairs in the grass area to the left of the chairs. The ceremony will start promptly at 9:15 announcing each student. At the end of the ceremony (45-60 minutes), families will be directed to the Panther Wall to pick up certificates. We encourage all families to stay and take pictures after the ceremony.

Reporting absences
Absences outside of illness such as death in the family, military deployment leaves, injuries, regular appointments such as doctor, dentist, and orthodontist are excused. Absences outside of the above listed examples should be reported as "personal reasons, non-Covid related". Thank you for your honesty with reporting absences. We are far more concerned about the health and safety of our students and staff than we are with unexcused absences.
Please call the office at 619-605-4800 and press 3 or email Miss Ellie at eharris4@sandi.net for all absences.
