Dear Moraine Families,


Parenting is a joy and challenge we don't have to learn alone! Northville is very excited about Parent Camp this year! In addition to some incredible sessions to learn and connect with other Northville parents, we have over 50 vendors to provide families with mental health and disability related resources. Parent Camp is on Saturday, February 4th from 9-2pm, vendors from 10-2pm at Northville High School.


This is a DO NOT MISS event!

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

In the New Year, we remind our families about arrival/dismissal procedures:

- Please use patience - it keeps our process safe and calm!

- Pull up as far as possible before letting your child out of the car.

- Children must be with an adult if using the crosswalk

- All students must be signed in if dropped off after 8:46am

Kindergarten Enrollment for 2023-24 School Year is now OPEN!

Please visit our Kindergarten Enrollment webpage to sign up for an appointment to enroll your incoming Kindergarten student. Once you've signed up for an appointment, please return to the Enrollment webpage to complete the online portion of your pre-enrollment outlined in Steps 1-3.

March is Reading Month-Let Reading Take You on an Adventure!

March is Reading Month is just around the corner!

Before March begins, we want to again offer the opportunity for students to author their own books and have them on display throughout the month of March in the Moraine Media Center.

Our student authored books program is a wonderful way to inspire children to write and illustrate their own books!

If you would like to request a blank book for your author, please fill out the request form using the link below.

Read Shirts for March is Reading Month

March is Reading Month is coming up quickly!


This year, Moraine will again be offering families the opportunity to purchase clothing that promotes the love of reading. Last year was our first year offering these t-shirts and it was a great success.


If you are interested in ordering a shirt for your penguin reader, please use the link below. There are youth and adult sizes of short and long-sleeve t-shirts, as well as, crewneck sweatshirts and hoodies!


Shirts will be delivered to Moraine and sent home with students in late February.


Orders are due on/by Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Northville Parent Camp - Saturday, February 4th

Northville Parent Camp, presented by Michigan Educational Credit Union, is on Saturday, February 4, 2023, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Northville High School! Northville Public Schools and Northville Educational Foundation have again partnered to bring you Northville Parent Camp; a morning filled with resources, speakers, and workshops, presented to empower parents of children of all ages with practical knowledge, resources and tools to help equip them to support and guide their children. This year, in conjunction with Parent Camp, we will host Northville's 1st Annual Mental Health & Wellness Fair from 10am - 2pm in the Northville High School Cafeteria. NWEA Testing Window January 30-February 17th

Moraine, along with all Northville elementary schools, frequently monitors data to ensure our students continue to make progress. In addition to the daily formative assessments our teachers use to make in-the-moment decisions, we also administer the NWEA three times a year. Although it is never an ideal time to miss school, on occasion, it may not be avoided. District-wide, we will not be making up NWEA testing that is missed because of vacation. There is no guarantee that your student will be given a make-up test unless the data is deemed necessary for MTSS decisions.

Northville Inclusion Week, February 27th - March 3rd

At Moraine and in Northville, we have a strong belief in providing opportunities and equal access to every student that walks through our doors. This year, the entire district plans to participate in Northville Inclusion Week on February 27th-March 3rd. More information will follow, and daily activities for the week are noted below. Parent Coffee Talks

The Parent Lighthouse Team is planning to host a “Parent Coffee Talk” once a month. Every month we will meet to discuss each of the “7 Habits of Highly Effective Families”. You do not need to have attended the parent workshop in October to join us for these informal “Parent Coffee Talks”.


The schedule is as follows:


February 23 – Habit 4: Think Win-Win

March 16 – Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be

Understood

April 20 – Habit 6: Synergize

May 18 – Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw


These meetings will take place in Room 311 at Old Village School (405 Main Street in Northville) from 9:00-10:30 AM (except on January 19). Parking is behind Old Village School next to the library. Light refreshments are provided. Please bring something to drink and join us as we have fun discussing how to successfully (and at times unsuccessfully) implement the 7 Habits at home.

Nuts About Science...Freaky Fun Physics!

Join us as we investigate physics, Sir Isaac Newton, experiment with forces, learn all about air, the power of magnets, light and color!! We’ll have some freaky fun in this session!


Who: Students in Grades 1st - 5th


When: 3:45-5:00 pm.


Tuesdays 2/7, 2/21, 3/14, 3/21, 4/4 (no class 2/14, 2/28 and 3/7)

OR Wednesdays 2/8, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22 (no class 2/15)


Where: Room 25


Tuition: Tuesdays (5 classes): $140 per student; $115 for student with parent helper

Wednesdays (6 classes): $165 per student; $135 for student with parent helper.

Parent helpers must attend all classes. All materials are included. $7 of each student’s tuition goes to Moraine PTA.

Northville Youth Network (NYN) provides valuable programs and services to the Northville Community such as education and awareness, referral services and case work services.
