Millbury Monthly - Happenings @ MHS
From the desk of Christopher Lowe, Principal
Good evening, Woolie families!
And just like that, the first month of the school year is nearly complete!
A special thank you to all families, students, and staff that contributed to it being a fantastic opening. From the opening day Pep Rally which welcomed our Seniors, our 7th-Grade Woolies, as well as our new staff, to the opening week activities in the classroom which focused on establishing relationships, our hallways and classrooms had such a positive and energy-filled buzz. So many smiles, laughs, and welcomebacks which made the opening days and weeks feel so special!
As we settle into the month of October, we know that the days and weeks will continue to fly by! We will be sure to continue to update you all on all of the amazing things happening at the Junior-Senior High School.
Please be sure to check our our social media accounts and school website for updated information as we post regularly to those accounts!
As always, we want to thank you for continuing to support us here at the Junior-Senior High School. We are thrilled to see how the rest of the 2023 - 2024 school year shapes up!
Sincerely,
Chris Lowe

Congratulations to Aymen Marquez Essif
Millbury Memorial Junior-Senior High School is proud to congratulate the Class of 2024's very own, Aymen Marquez Essif, on his academic honors from the College Board's National Recognition Programs, which help students stand out during college admissions and connect them with universities nationwide helping them meaningfully connect to colleges and stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs identify students awarded National African American, Hispanic, Indigenous, and/or Rural/Small Town Recognition through College Board’s Student Search Service.
Students who may be eligible have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams; and are African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, and/or attend school in a rural area or small town.
Eligible students will be invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year and will be awarded at the beginning of the next school year. Students will receive their awards in time to include them on their college and scholarship applications.
“We want to honor the hard work of these students through the College Board National Recognition Programs. “We hope the award winners and their families celebrate this prestigious honor and it helps them plan for their big future.,” said Tarlin Ray, College Board senior vice president of BigFuture.
We are so proud of Aymen and his efforts throughout his years as a student at Millbury Memorial Junior-Senior High School. We extend our deepest congratulations to him and his family on receiving this prestigious award!

New Aspen Sign Off Procedure
Hello.
Each year, Millbury Public Schools asks you to update student information at the beginning of the school year. We do this to ensure we have updated phone numbers, email addresses, and documentation to start the year. This year, we have moved the process online for Shaw and the Jr/Sr High School.
Parents of students at the Jr/Sr High School should be familiar with the Family Portal at https://ma-millbury.myfollett.com. This is where parents can view their child's grades, assignments, and attendance. We are expanding the options in the Family Portal to include updating student information, registering a new student, viewing report cards, and additional documents.
Additional updates later in the year will make the family portal will make it more mobile-friendly. For now, the best way to access the portal is through a traditional web browser or tablet.
What You Need to Know
Late Friday evening, we will reset all current family portal usernames and passwords for parents/guardians.
Going forward, usernames will be the email address we have on file (the email account this message was sent to) and the password “Changeme!”.
The first time you log in to the family portal at https://ma-millbury.myfollett.com, put your email address in the username field and the password “Changeme!”.
The Parent Portal, report cards, new student registration, and student information update can be viewed in four languages. English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic. To change your preferred language, click your name in the top right-hand corner of the Parent Portal. Click Preferences, and choose a language.
If you have a problem getting into the family portal after we reset everyones usernames and passwords, please contact tech@millburyschools.org
What We Need You To Do
Once you have access to the Family Portal, parents of students at Shaw and the Jr/Sr High School must click on the Initiate Button under Update Student Information.
If you have multiple students enrolled at Millbury, you will see them listed. Please update the information for each student at Shaw or the Jr/Sr High School.
There are five Tabs that contain information that you need to Update or Confirm.
Student Tab
Confirm or add any updated phone numbers.
Confirm your address. If you request an address change, you must complete a form and upload documents on the documents tab.
Family/Contacts Tab
Please look over the contacts and add any new contacts that are needed.
If you would like to add access to the family portal to a second parent or guardian, please make a note of it in the text box.
Health Tab
Review and update all information.
Upload a current Physical. To upload a document, click on the upload button, and click the button. Browse your computer for the document, and click the import button.
Other Information
Review and update all information.
Documents
If you request an address change, you must fill out the Sworn Statement of Residency and upload a proof of residency document. Upload them the same way you uploaded your Physical. Please name the document accordingly.
Thanks,
Jeff Berthiaume, Director of Technology
