School Motto
Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School is committed to the pursuit of Christian Truth & Excellence.
All members of the school community are encouraged to develop their potential and special qualities in an environment centred on Christ.
School Prayer
We pray that our school be blessed
with peace and justice for all,
so that we may be people
who bring Christ to the world
through the way we act and believe.
We ask you this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord,
Amen
Core Values
As a community centred on the example of Christ, the following core values (CARE) underpin our approach.
Community
We value every member of our school community and we are committed to working together to reach our shared goals through mutual support, encouragement, and celebration of our Catholic faith.
Achievement
We are committed to learning at every level to achieve our personal best.
Respect
We have personal and collective responsibility to each other and to the school’s success.
Excellence
We promote excellence in all that we do.
From Mr Will
Dear Community Members,
I feel like time itself is accelerating, I just cannot believe that we are already in September! We had that lovely day of 28 degrees, it was the first time I have taken a jumper off for the last 3 months. Bring on the warmer weather I say!
I hope that all our Dads, Grandads and Father Figures were spoilt on Sunday. I can say that my children brought me a coffee in bed and allowed me to have a relatively relaxing Sunday. Our HS kids also made me feel pretty special, including me in their Father’s Day presents last week. Check out our Instagram and Facebook for the details.
Community with a side of Bacon and Eggs
Community is one of the main deciding factors that many families (past, present and prospective) choose our school. We have something special here at Holy Spirit. The annual Father’s Day Breakfast was a great example of this. We had over 200 bacon and eggs rolls fly off the BBQ, the coffee van was working overtime and there was such a great sense of joy across the school. I can tell you that this doesn’t happen everywhere, and it is because of our people that we have it so good here at HS.
To give you an insight, I had multiple staff volunteer their time to arrive before 7am and start cooking the BBQ, I had so many Year 6 mums and dads arrive early and help to set up and pack away. When our staff arrived came down to share the experience with our kids and parents. This doesn’t happen by chance, but I sure am grateful for the people in our school, it makes my job as Principal such a pleasure. Thank you to all our people, especially our Year 6 Parent Reps who gave their time for the Father Day Breakfast and the Father's Day Sock Shop, to ensure it was such a great success.
2024 Booklist Update
If you have been part of our P&F or Advisory Council, you may have heard me speak about our booklist. Currently we issue every family with an individual booklist, which you can access from West School Supplies or source yourself. This unfortunately means that some of the supplies that students bring in aren’t consistent in quality and you as parents don’t benefit from the economies of scale that we can achieve by purchasing items in bulk.
From 2024 we are moving to a bulk purchasing system, where you will receive a levy attached to your fees that will cover all class resources, including stationary, text and workbooks, even tissues and wipes. Your levy will be cheaper on average by around $20 per list and you won’t need to worry about sourcing the items yourself, the process will be streamlined and all items will be consistent in the classroom.
As part of this process, we have sought multiple quotes from different suppliers. I am happy to let you know that West School Supplies have been able to price match and beat these quotes. West School Supplies will deliver all our 2024 items in December ready for our children when they come back to school next year.
Holy Spirit Planning
As a school community it is important to plan for future improvements and developments. Each year our school develops a document called a Catholic School Improvement Plan (CSIP), this document guides our ongoing improvement and is very specific in terms of goals and steps to achieve them. The school also develops a broad Strategic Plan, which outlines improvements over a 3-year period.
All our planning is underpinned by Catholic Education Western Australia’s (CEWA) Strategic Directions. Our Strategic Plan expires this year, which would normally mean that we would be busy planning our new Strategic Plan right now. As CEWA is also undergoing a Strategic Plan review and as our school plans need to align with these directions, we have made the decision to hold off on any further Strategic Planning until this CEWA document is released.
We will however be sending out a survey in Term 4 to gain perspective from all our community members regarding the future direction of the school. We will also include our progress toward the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan Action Items. Please keep an eye out for this information.
HS Footy Tipping!
I love the real-life drama that only sport can provide, and boy did this translate into our Footy Tipping this year. The final result was determined by the last game of the last round of the season. Tipping GWS over Carlton moved Patrick Ricciardo into equal top spot on 148 and he only won the competition on season margin (622 vs 714)! Honestly, you could not have predicted that if you tried. Huge thanks to Anton Avila, who led our footy tipping so brilliantly this year. Well done to Patrick Ricciardo in 1st place and The Keffords coming in 2nd. My tipping slipped at the last hurdle to place 3rd. A great effort from all the tippers and I look forward to an even bigger competition in 2024.
Until next time, take care of yourselves,
Ben

THANK YOU - Parents Night
Thank you to all the parents that attended our annual P&F Parents Night - what a fun event - some of the costumes were spectacular!
WELL DONE on the amazing efforts of the organising committee - Anna, Suzy, Franca, Jenna, Marcia, Vicki, Sarah and Sophia. These parents along with our DJ - Neil and bar staff Kristen and Jo donated their precious time and energy in making the night a huge success.
It was the perfect night for a boogey on the dance floor or to be outside standing around the fire pit, catching up with other parents who we sometimes just cross paths with at drop off and pick ups at school.
On behalf of all of the HS parents and families - THANKS SO MUCH - you all did a fabulous job!
Fathers Day Breakfast
Thank you to all the Dads, Grandads, Uncles and Father figures that attended the P&F Fathers Day Breakfast last Friday! There was a fantastic turn out from our families! Thank you to our amazing Year 6 families who donated their time and help towards making this Breakfast a great morning. Also a big thank you goes to Mr Will and Mr Colace for cooking over 200 delicious bacon and egg burgers, and to all the Holy Spirit staff that also kindly helped out as well. A great community event!
