West Hempstead Weekly Update
June 19, 2023
Thank you!
On behalf of the Board of Education and Central Office, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the fabulous year of learning and leadership that you have provided our students. As the school year comes to a close, I reflect on the journey we have embarked upon together. I am grateful for your dedication, passion, and unwavering support of our students and families.
You have demonstrated a commitment to our student's education and growth throughout the year. Your knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm have ignited a love for learning that I hope continues into the summer. You have created engaging and inspiring lessons, nurturing an environment where learners can explore, question, and develop their skills.
Your guidance has extended far beyond the classroom. You have been mentors, role models, and pillars of strength. You have taught students not just academics but valuable life lessons, encouraging them to become compassionate individuals, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders. Your efforts have shaped their character and prepared us for the challenges ahead.
Aides, monitors, and nurses have fostered a sense of belonging and encouraged students to embrace their unique qualities. In addition, you have created a warm and inclusive community within our school. Your support has given students the confidence to pursue their dreams and strive for excellence. Your dedication to our student's well-being has not gone unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for the safe and nurturing environment you have provided.
I would also like to acknowledge the behind-the-scenes staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure our school runs smoothly. From the administrative staff to the custodians and maintenance, cafeteria workers to the bus drivers and security, each of you has played a crucial role in making our learning experience exceptional. Your hard work often goes unnoticed, but it is deeply appreciated.
I want to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the parents who have been invaluable partners in their child's learning journey throughout this school year. Your unwavering support, dedication, and involvement were crucial in creating a nurturing environment for your child's growth and development. You have consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to your child's education by attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering to facilitate learning outside the classroom, and providing a conducive home environment. Your encouragement, patience, and understanding have inspired your child and empowered our entire educational community. Together, we have overcome challenges and embraced opportunities, fostering a collaborative spirit that has greatly enriched the school year.
As we bid farewell to the 2022-2023 school year, I want to thank you for your commitment, passion, and dedication. You have touched our students' lives countless times, and your influence will stay with them. You have not only imparted knowledge but have also inspired them to be the best versions of themselves.
Wishing you all a well-deserved rest and a rejuvenating break. May the upcoming year bring you joy, fulfillment, and continued success. Thank you once again for making this year truly fabulous.

Cornwell Avenue
The writing celebration in Ms. Corrado's and Rafferty's class (and all the writing celebrations this year) at Cornwell Avenue was an exuberant moment that embodied the power and beauty of words. The air was filled with energy as our third-grade authors shared their literary creations. With the enthusiastic voices of aspiring young authors showcasing handwritten and electronic pieces, the classroom became a melting pot of creativity and inspiration.
The atmosphere and classroom were adorned with colorful decorations, amplifying the ambiance and fostering community among the families in attendance. As the moment unfolded, readings infused the space with emotion, laughter, and applause, nurturing a deep appreciation for the written word. It was a testament to the enduring allure of storytelling and the remarkable ability of language to unite and uplift people from diverse walks of life.
