Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 1/12/2024
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
You never know what weather winter will bring, but we are thankful that we were able to overcome the deluge of rain we received mid-week with only the need for a Wednesday 2-hour delay. Despite losing a few hours in school, a great deal of learning (and laughing) happened at Mill Creek this past week.
Among the highlights this past week were some wonderful Home and School volunteers spreading literal Kindness by bringing around the Kindness Cart, providing staff with some coffee/tea and a few treats (doughnuts; granola bars). It was a wonderful pick me up for our staff! Tremendous thanks to Ms. Bayzick, Ms. Lai, and Ms. Pfeiffenberger for bringing the kindness to our staff this past Wednesday!
On Thursday, Mr. Tonik's 4th Grade class visited to the Mill Creek Cafe, which involved a special lunch, including the best part... an ice cream sundae dessert! Mr. Murtha served the students this special meal, as well as led some fun conversation and trivia. Thanks to Ms. Lassin for her coordination of this event. Interesting bit of info... this was our fourth Mill Creek Cafe of the 2023-2024 school year, and every 4th Grade class has been invited - way to go 4th Grade! Let's see if another grade level class can break the 4th Grade streak and join us in February.
Reaching back to last week (but after our newsletter went to print), the Mill Creek Dance Team put on a wonderful performance at CB South during the basketball game last Friday night. Thank you for representing Mill Creek with such positive energy, Dance Team!
Finally, a reminder for those looking for a community service opportunity of the MLK Souper Bowl event at Mill Creek on Monday (see info. further down in the newsletter). Whether you join us for the event or participate in another community service... even something as simple as helping a neighbor in need... we wish you a wonderful long weekend and the opportunity to do good for your Community!

This month, Mill Creekâs Diversity Committee will celebrate Neurodiversity Awareness. Neurodiversity is the idea that people can have a range of thought process differences and behavioral differences, and that we can value and respect these differences as a school community. During this month, classrooms will have an opportunity to create a paper chain that represents different learning and thinking styles of each student. The chain will symbolize that we can be individuals, but also work together to make something beautiful. We will display the paper chain near the library for all to enjoy!
