Important Field Day Information...read below
Dear Boone Meadow Families -
Field Day - We are excited to bring back Field Day to students and classrooms this year. We have a great day planned for the students.
Please note the following information regarding Field Day:
- Volunteers: We have only a couple volunteer slots available during session #2: 10:15-12:15. Volunteers assist in various capacities to help stations run smoothly.
- Donations: There are a few donation items requested, so please visit the sign up link here if you are able to volunteer or donate.
- Additional Visitors: We have had a number of families request to visit, "come watch", or volunteer to help a specific class only. For the safety and efficiency to manage the day, we are unable to navigate additional background checks, manage who is volunteering or visiting, assign duties & responsibilities, etc... We apologize for this disappointment, but for numerous capacity reasons, we will not be able to accommodate these requests. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility with this matter.
Boone Meadow Bash - What a wonderful event where we had an estimated crowd of more than 1100 guests on our campus. The auction and activities were a tremendous event for children and adults alike. Thank you for your tremendous support and for sharing the evening with us. We are looking forward to our next opportunities to gather!
Teacher Appreciation Week - We have definitely felt the love this week. Thank you for lavishly sharing with us this week. Your kind words, encouragements, and gifting are incredibly uplifting. We are grateful for this community and all the support you generously share.
Family Input Survey will remain open throughout the weekend should you need additional time to complete. Thank you for your feedback. (more info below)
Garden Help Wanted: Interested in helping maintain our garden over the summer? We need you! Summer garden volunteers weed, water, and harvest throughout the summer to prepare our garden classroom for learning in the fall. Help us organize a schedule that can work for all of us. Boone Meadow appreciates your time and efforts toward making our garden a useful learning space. Mrs. Benson will get a schedule to you by the end of the school year and welcome any questions and special requests you might have: INTEREST SURVEY

Garden Help Wanted:
The Boone Meadow Garden is used K-4 for learning all spring and fall. To make these lessons work, though, we need volunteers to maintain the garden while we are away at summer break. I am eager to line up volunteers to help with garden maintenance over the summer. Fill out THIS FORM if you would like to be part of the team. It takes just 4 minutes. Contact me at kbenson@zcs.k12.in.us if you have any questions. Normally volunteer families simply commit to one day per week (or every other week) for weeding and watering. We have substitutes when you can’t make your day, and can work around vacations. Join us!
A Glimpse into the Hindu Civilization
The Hindu Community of Boone County, Indiana in collaboration with Zionsville Community Schools and the Zionsville Public Library would like to invite you to this free exhibition to understand Hindu culture and its civilization. This exhibition - Darshana - portrays the 'Hindu way of life,' or Hindu Civilization, which evolved in the Indian subcontinent for over 5000 years.
Over the past two centuries, the Western world, including the United States, has been steadily introduced to Hindu principles and practices, such as Yoga, meditation, vegetarianism, and Ayurveda, the science of holistic medicine, which are now popularly practiced and accepted.
This exhibition, with vivid illustrations and lucid descriptions of 24 different topics related to Yoga, Ayurveda, Dharma, mathematics, architecture, arts, sciences, traditional attire, and present-day global impact, to name a few, will hopefully inspire curiosity towards a deeper study of these topics.
‘Darshana’ will be hosted at the Hussey-Mayfield Library for 3 weeks with an inaugural ceremony on Monday, May 9.
We invite communities to come and explore this poster exhibition supported by audio tours.
Location: Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Library. 250 N 5th St, Zionsville, IN 46077

Volunteers and Visitor Background Checks
At this time, due to CoVID 19 restraints, we are "pausing" on volunteers and visitors. When volunteers are needed and approved, appropriate staff members will reach out to you in effort to welcome your support and assistance.
If you plan to volunteer of visit in the future, please note the following information.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VOLUNTEERS
We value partnerships with our families and welcome parents and guardians to serve as volunteers in our schools. Each ZCS building typically offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities.
Examples include:
- Field Trip Chaperones
- Out of Town/Overnight Chaperones
- Tutors
- Volunteer Coaches
- Classroom Helpers (PTO parties/room parents)
- Library Helpers
- After Prom Workers
- Field Day/Jog-A-Thon Volunteers
- Book Fair Sales/Athletic Ticket Sales
During the school day, all volunteers are expected to sign in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer opportunity, all volunteers must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days prior to the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee* for the full background check which will expire after 5 years. The link to apply for the full background check can be accessed on the Volunteers/BRAVO link on the ZCS main webpage. For more information, contact the Volunteer/BRAVO Coordinator.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VISITORS
During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign-in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times.
Examples Include:
- Lunch Guests
- Classroom Guest Speakers
- Classroom Special Events (Grandparent Day/Famous Hoosiers/etc.)
- Parent/Teacher Conferences
We ask that all visitors schedule an appointment to meet with teachers, counselors, administrators and all other staff members so that we may best serve everyone. Visitors other than parents/guardians must be prearranged and organized through the main office.
*ZCS thanks all volunteers for generous support of our youth and schools. Thank you, too, for supporting assurance of student and staff safety by completing and paying for a volunteer background check.
