We've had more outstanding community events this week, with continuing cross country and also, or course, the PTA Dragon Boat Festival last weekend.
I'd like to sincerely thank the organisers and sponsors of the event, which proved to be a first for our school and a great success. Amidst the performances, food and cultural activities, what stood out most of all was the community spirit, which is at the heart of the PTA's purpose.
This was a significant undertaking, and the efforts put into bringing it all together are greatly appreciated.
Reports and Parent Conferences Next Week - Pick up at 1pm Thurs, 29 June
You'll hopefully by now have booked a conference for next week, where you will be able to build on the information from your child's mid-year report, looking at examples from class, hearing perspectives from the teacher, and also making time for the voice of your child as a learner, who will have an active role sharing examples of their progress and achievement with you, so it is important that they attend this conference also.
We realise that for those with several children at the school this is a significant investment of time, but I'm sure it will be well spent and give you much greater insight into your child's learning.
As always, if you have any sensitive matters to discuss, it is best to make a time to discuss these with the teacher separately.
As for the reports, the intent is to give you an overall snapshot of progress towards end of year goals (curriculum levels), so for most children we would expect them to be at an 'approaching expectations' stage at this point of the year.
Staffing Term 3
We have a couple of significant staffing changes ahead next term as we will farewell both Brad McMahon and Amber Fordham (both teaching in Year 5 currently) as they head off to pursue new opportunities and adventures.
They will, of course, both be sadly missed by many, and I know everyone will wish them well for the future, with thanks for their time and dedication here at MENPS as valued colleagues.
Looking ahead, we will be welcoming two new members of staff to the teaching team - Dom Reed and Jeewan Cheema, both of whom we are sure will be excellent additions to the MENPS whanau in the near future.
Until then, we look forward to catching up with you at the Conferences next week to share more about your child's successes in class so far this year!

ATTENTION PARENTS! JAMMIES IN JUNE!
If your child goes to Mt Eden Normal Primary School (MENPS), then chances are that they will want to bring a pair of pyjamas to school to donate to children in need as part of the Jammies in June Middlemore Foundation fundraiser so that they can wear pyjamas to school on the last day of term.
However, they can't simply bring in a pair of old pyjamas to donate, the pyjamas need to be brand new, and bought specifically to donate. Important: THEY MUST BE BRAND NEW!!! IF YOU BRING OLDIE AND MOULDY JAMMIES YOUR DONATION WILL BE REJECTED!
The pyjamas must also be size 0-13 years. DON´T FORGET!!! Thank you!
Thank you so much for coming to our festival on Saturday - we were so grateful for the amazing turn out 🌧️.
A huge thank you to the many volunteers and stall coordinators who helped on the day - many stood in the cold for a long time so your help and enthusiasm was much appreciated by the PTA team.
Thank you especially to Rosemary Li for coordinating the cultural stalls, sponsors and performers. As Rosemary is a Year 6 parent, we will be looking to our Chinese community to find a new event coordinator so we can run this special celebration again in June, 2024.
Many thanks also to our event sponsors
