8th GRADE INFORMATION
Hello families,
Thank you for supporting our Chipotle Night! We raised $285.90 for our events! Please keep supporting us for our other events throughout the year!
This past week students were handed a flyer for our Meadow Farms Fundraiser. This fundraiser will go towards field trips and our end of the year celebration. If students wish to have a packet, they need to seek out Ms. Blades in room 126 or Ms. Presley in room 128. Ordering in the packet means you DO NOT pay for shipping. Orders are online as well but you do pay shipping. The link for our online store is https://shop.meadowfarms.com/roberto-clemente-middle-school-100247 .
Ms. Becknell will be leading several high school information sessions called High School 101, during Wellness in the coming weeks. Each student will have the chance to go to those sessions. She will talk about all of the processes involved with applying for high school programs. All students who have the homeroom teacher Mahon, B.Lee, and Creighton are to report to the cafeteria instead of going to Choice Wellness the week of Oct 2nd.
Science teachers also passed out Maryland Then and Now in-house field trip forms. The cost is $10 and payment can be made on the School Cash app. https://mcpsmd.schoolcashonline.com/. Please contact Liz Gall at Elizabeth_k_gall@mcpsmd.org.
The team leaders also keep a running newsletter for events for 8th grade students. This document is a running document as new things arise; they are added to the document.
Thank you very much! We are going to have an amazing year!
RCMS is hosting a Quinceañera
RCMS is hosting a Quinceañera on October 13th from 3:15-5:15 to conclude Hispanic Heritage Month. This school dance will feature music, dancing, food, and other fun opportunities for students. Students are invited to dress formally, as if attending a traditional Quinceañera celebration and have been learning about the tradition at the Hispanic Heritage Month Fair in the Hawks’ Nest. Tickets will be sold at lunches at RCMS the week of October 6th for $5 each. Snacks and refreshments will be available for students at the dance ranging from $1-$5.
Families and community members, please reach out to Lindsey Parra if you would like to get involved. In order to make this the most memorable and amazing experience for our students, we would be grateful for support in decorations, set-up, and more! Please email Lindsey_M_Vernon@mcpsmd.org

School Cash Online
SchoolCash Online (SCO) is the preferred method for parents/guardians to pay student activity and registration fees in MCPS. As of Monday, August 21, 2023, parents/guardians will no longer need a PIN to add their student(s) to their SCO account. This new feature in SCO will make it easier for parents/guardians to attach their student(s) in their account profiles.
Fun Facts:
- SCO is NOT related to school cafeteria accounts,
- ALL payments to RCMS for field trips, obligations, etc. will be processed through SCO,
- SCO allows all users to make purchases online using a credit card or e-check,
- Once registered, you will be immediately informed about school activities via SCO emails,
- SCO eliminates the need for our hardworking teachers to process money collected from each student because each payment is sent directly to the school’s bank account,
- Prices include processing fees, regardless of the type of payment, so everyone pays the same amount!
CURRENT RCMS STUDENTS REGISTERED: 62.5%
