Presidents Park in Williamsburg, VA was inspired by Mt. Rushmore, where giant busts were on display 2004-2010 until the land was sold & the presidential heads had to move. Instead of allowing the busts to be demolished, Howard Hankins, who helped construct the park, adopted all 42 heads & lugged them back to his private family farm for safekeeping until a reuse plan could be hatched. Some of the heads sustained minor damage to the backs of their heads & noses during the move. The Atlas Obscura Podcast is a short, daily celebration of all the world’s strange & wondrous places. That is a result of good planning, knowledge & a lot of hard work. Thank you for excellent work. We are proud of the groundskeeping team.
