Welcome to our New Assistant Principal!
Mrs. Sharilynn Shakeshaft hails from a small acreage outside of Kitscoty, Alberta and moved to the big city of Edmonton to graduate from the University of Alberta to work in the criminology field. After serving young offenders and working at theYouth Emergency Shelter for a few years, she went back to school and studied as a biochemistry major and math minor. Once that was finished, she went into education, and has been blessed with the opportunity to teach various subjects from Kindergarten through Grade 12 and settled in junior high and high school Math and Science. Mrs. Shakeshaft went on to graduate from the U of A once again, with her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, and has since had varying degrees administrative roles in all of the schools she’s taught. She taught junior high and high school Math and Science in Canmore at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy (where she also coached basketball and badminton) and most recently at Sacred Heart Catholic School of the Performing Arts in Wetaskiwin, where she melded her love for Drama with Academics and was the head of the Drama department.
Mrs. Shakeshaft is also devoted to her home Parish of Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Edmonton, which serves the needs of people in the area. She is on the PPC committee and is also their acting secretary. Joseph, her son, is an altar server, Elizabeth sings in the choir, and Steve is on the maintenance committee.
Mrs. Shakeshaft has been married to her husband Steve for 14 years, and they have two children; Joseph who will be going into Grade 8 and Elizabeth who will be going into Grade 6. Her interests include dance (she directed the Alberta Ukrainian Dance Association for a few years and has taught dance and figure skating choreo across BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan), swimming, paddle boarding, skiing, hiking and camping.

Staggered Entries Dates for the Fall
In September we will begin our year with a staggered entry. Only half of our students will be attending on Wednesday and the other half on Thursday. This allows teachers a chance to get to know their students and organize them before the whole class is together. All students in Grade 1- 8 with their last names beginning from A to K will be attending the first day of school on Wednesday September 1. Students with the last names beginning with the letters L to Z will attend on Thursday, September 2. The first full day back to school for all students is Friday September 3.
**Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten students will also have a staggered entry on Thursday September 2 and Friday September 3. Teachers will contact students as to the day they will be attending.

Computers Avaiable for Families
EICS has a one-to-one technology program where students from grade 4 and up will need to acquire a device. This year we will be replacing the computers on the computer cart which means that we will have a few older devices that can be purchased by our grade 1 - 3 students. The two devices that are available are the ASUS Chromebook Flip $40 or the Lenovo N22 Chromebook $20. These used Chromebooks will be factory reset and inspected before they are available to buy and will be sold as is. Please see the attach letter if you are interested in purchasing a device.
Staples also has a one-to-one program with new devices for families. Please see below for more information.
