Summer is finally here! It's time to soak up the sun, have fun, and create amazing memories with your friends and families. Before the last day of school is upon us, we wanted to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all our students and families for your incredible support throughout the year. We all had such a wonderful year because of the ideas, laughter, kindness and joy you all brought to our school everyday!

Cam and I also wanted to use this final Explorer of the year to thank our fantastic SAM staff. We are so fortunate to have such a talented, dedicated, and creative team of staff there for your kids everyday. SAM School is such a wonderful place to come learn, play, and work because of the humans that make this their home away from home every day!

So whatever your plans for the next few months, we wish you all a fantastic summer filled with laughter and joy. You've all done an outstanding job, and we're proud of each and every one of you. Enjoy your break, recharge, and we'll see you in the fall for another incredible year!

Thank you for everyone who joined us on Monday for our Farewell Assembly. As part of our assembly, we had the opportunity to enjoy our Year End Slideshow together. We are very excited to welcome many new faces to the SAM Staff next year. We are particularly fortunate to be able to grow our support staff and educational assistant team as we head into the 2023/24 school year.

Next year, Ms. Sara Gossa will be joining us in the role of Health Recovery Facilitator (HRF). In this role, Ms. Gossa will work closely with students, families, and staff to provide an extra layer of support within the school, as well as help provide connections to community agencies and support systems.

Along with an HRF, we are very grateful to welcome many more educational assistants to our school to help support our students on a daily basis. Please welcome Ms. Jennifer Matthew, Mr. Kent Barrett, Ms. Akiko McLeod, Ms. Kerri Mallett, and Mrs. Jennifer Paolucci to our team.

And, finally, you will notice a new face in our office in the fall as Mrs. McFarlane has decided to take on a job with the City of St. Albert. Please welcome Ms. Sarah Stadnyk who will join Mrs. Crystal Melnychuk as the front office faces of SAM.

SAM School will have a slightly revised daily schedule for our students next year. To accommodate busing schedules, please note that our school day is both starting and ending slightly earlier than this year. As there will not any be scheduled staff supervision before 8:45am or after 3:25pm (outside of supervision at the busses), it will be very important for families to time their morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups accordingly. Also, please be assured that students will also have an additional morning recess and snack time (between periods 1 and 6) scheduled by their teacher where students will have the opportunity to get some fresh air and a nutrition break.

This is not a goodbye, but rather a heartfelt note to say "see you later." It fills me with immense gratitude to have been a part of your child's school journey here at SAM for the past 11 years. While I may be embarking on new adventures, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation.

As I embark on new adventures, I carry the spirit of SAM with me, and I will cherish the memories we created together. Our paths will cross again, and until then, I wish you and your families abundant happiness, success, and joy in all your future endeavors.
