Welcome Back Dragons
Dear LOHS Families,
Welcome back to what is sure to be another wonderful year at Lake Orion High School. Our support and instructional staff have been hard at work this summer making sure we have everything necessary to have the best school year possible.
A couple of reminders that we need everyone’s help with this school year:
· Get to class on time – EVERY HOUR.
· Cell phones are to be kept out of sight during class time unless given permission by the classroom teacher to have them out. Students who use cell phones/ear buds/etc. in a manner deemed distracting to themselves may have those items confiscated to the main office. Repeated issues with electronic devices of any type can lead to discipline for that student.
· E-Hall passes are for emergencies only. Except in cases of documented medical needs, individual e-hall passes will be limited this year. Use them sparingly and wisely.
· Vaping in any form is ILLEGAL – do not use, possess, or distribute anything to do with vaping or other illegal substances.
· Bathrooms are not for hanging out. Use the facilities appropriately and then get back to where you are supposed to be. Loitering in bathrooms is not only gross, but also against our school policy.
· Keep it simple! Be in your class on time, ready to participate to give yourself a productive and successful school year.
Students – Enjoy the last bit of summer break! See you on Tuesday, September 5 for our first day. As always, Make It Count! Be a Leader! And please, Protect the Thunder! See you soon.
Go Dragons!

Principal, Lake Orion High School

New Dragon Day - Thursday, August 31
Each year, Lake Orion High School staff and students invite all our new 9-12th graders to join us before the official start of the school year. This opportunity allows students to meet their teachers, some of our students, become familiar with the building, walk their schedule, ask questions, and enjoy a fun start to the school year.
Transportation is provided for students who will be riding the bus on New Dragon Day; please see the email sent from our transportation department.

Free Breakfast and Lunch
This year, each student will be able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch per school day.
What makes a breakfast free?
- Students must take a fruit or juice with their breakfast entrée for the meal to qualify as a complete meal and be FREE
What makes a lunch free?
- To qualify for a FREE full meal, students must take a fruit or vegetable (they may take both) with their lunch entrée; a milk is not required to make a complete meal
- Juice and milk are NOT FREE, unless the complete meal is taken
- An entrée without the required fruit or vegetable is NOT FREE
- At the Middle Schools, and High School students are allowed to purchase a second entrée, or items from the snack bars if they have money in their accounts to purchase those items
Students will have to enter their student ID Number into the keypad so we can track that each student is only getting one free breakfast and one free lunch per day. Please note, we are not charging them for the meal unless they chose a la cart items; which are not included in the free meals. A la carte items are snack foods such as chips, bottles of water, cookies, fruit snacks, etc.) Students can't make free meals out of snacks.
Please keep in mind, lunch lines are always long at the beginning of the school year but will get better as everyone gets into the groove.
Please be sure, if you received free and reduced services in the past, it is important to continue to fill out this application as this will assist with additional expenses.
