Celebration Edition
Blue Jackets have had a busy school year, and it's hard to believe we are closing in on the end of our first semester. This edition of our parent newsletter will focus on celebrations! We have so many good things to celebrate we could not possibly fit them all into one edition (it would be too long). Below are some highlights of our student and staff successes over the last few months. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful student body and faculty at Aynor High School. The tradition continues! #GoBigBlue

Students Organize Food Drive for the Salvation Army
Members of DECA and the National Honor Society organized a Food Drive for the holidays. Students collected and donated over 525 items to our local Salvation Army. As an incentive to encourage the student body to bring items, a class competition was held. The class collecting the most items received a "sweet treat." Congratulations to Ms. Beth Thomas' 2nd block class for collecting over 100 items.
Semi Annual "A Day of Thanks" Celebrates Students and Staff
We are celebrating our third year of what has become a semi-annual event called "A Day of Thanks." During this time, our community comes together to encourage, support, and feed our staff while students are involved in a motivational assembly and competitive team events. This year our "A Day of Thanks" Fall 2023 celebration was held Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Students heard an encouraging message from our guest speaker and had the opportunity to sign up and participate in an "Amazing Race" challenge, a Chess tournament, a tug of war event, and a dodgeball tournament. Then, students were escorted to the stadium to watch a student-led "Powder Puff" event where blue card honor roll recipients were treated to free donuts. Local businesses and churches sponsored our faculty meal for the day where faculty and staff were given 1 1/2 hours to sit, eat, and fellowship. Prizes were also donated for our staff. If you are interested in participating in our next event or would like to provide food, gift cards, donated items, or more, please reach out to Ms. Kim Mendez, kmendez@horrycountyschools.net. We would love for you to partner with us to celebrate our students and staff! #GoBigBlue
