Effective with the graduating class of 2023, students are required to demonstrate postsecondary preparedness through one of four pathways that more fully illustrate college, career, and community readiness. Keystone Exams will continue as the statewide assessment Pennsylvania uses to comply with accountability requirements set forth in the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Although students will no longer be required to achieve proficiency on the Keystone Exams to meet the statewide graduation requirement, students must take the Keystone Exams for purposes of federal accountability.

Principal Brown along with the Staff at Chester High School have been reviewing and compiling a list of Pathways to Graduation for all 12th Grade Students. We have given Students copies of an Employment Verification Letter to be signed and returned to Chester High Administration as well as a Service-Learning Log. We have been developing options to assist the students with achieving these different pathways and have been reviewing each Senior's file to determine what is needed, please reach out to Mr. Franklin efranklin@chesteruplandsd.org or Mr. James Taylor jataylor@chesteruplandsd.org with any questions.

All students who showed growth in the Math and ELA Map Diagnostic Testing received a $10 gift card from Chick-Fa-Lay. There was a temporary issue with these gift cards activation. The issue has been corrected and gift cards are available for use. The list of eligible students is posted in the building and many have already received their award and card.

Parents and Senior Students please check with your Guidance Counselor for several scholarships available to help defray the cost of furthering your education. There are many opportunities available. Please take advantage of all these avenues for assistance.

Attendance is an important part of academic excellence. Please make sure Your Student is in school and on time each and every school day. We are in the 4th marking period and must finish strong. If students are late they must get a late pass upon entry into the building.

The Prom is an extension of the school day and the student Code of Conduct will apply to all students and the guest (even if the guest is not a Chester Upland School District student). You are responsible for your behavior and the behavior of your invited guest.

Student conduct requirements:

· Students are expected to remain at the prom until they leave; students will not be permitted to exit the prom and return

· Weapons, drugs, alcohol of any kind are not permitted. Students and/or their guest in violation will be recommended immediately for expulsion.

· Students who appear to be intoxicated or who smell of drugs and or alcohol will not be permitted into the prom.

· Containers i.e. bottles, food, etc. will not be permitted into prom

· Police will be contacted to remove anyone loitering around the location---(Let your family and friends know this is so they will not be expecting to hang around the The Adventure Aquarium facility).

· Friday, May 26th, 2023 students will only be permitted to leave early with written parental permission or with parent pickup.

· On Friday, May 26th, 2023 parents/guardians will NOT be allowed on the premises of Adventure Aquarium, unless parents/guardians are dropping their child off.

We would like to thank the Chester High Guidance Team for the Career fair that was held last Thursday in the Fred Pickett Gymnasium. There were over 15 employers who came and met with our 11th and12th graders to give them career options and information. Special thanks to Ms. Barnes for making sure everything ran smooth and the day was a great success.
