Dear Alto Families,
Last week was an exciting week at Alto Elementary! The Day of Awesomeness was a ton of fun! We also held our first PBIS Celebration Friday afternoon. We celebrated a successful start to the school year with our Alto All STARS (Safe, Thoughtful, Accountable, Respectful). It was a beautiful afternoon to have extra recess with dance music playing loudly and popsicles for everyone!

LAS Library Media Services Important Information
A Message From Our District Library Media Director, Christine Beachler:
Dear LAS Parents/Guardians:
We are excited to offer all of our students a year of reading, growing, learning and fun through the books in our library program. In our six LAS school libraries grades K-12, we have over 125,000 books and are proud to extend a robust, current, relevant and diverse range of library books for students of all ages.
One of the essential experiences that our school libraries provide is an opportunity for all students to develop a love of books and reading. We invite you to partner with us by being actively involved in your child's reading choices, reading with them, and discussing with them the books they're reading and what they've learned from the reading experience. The benefits of reading are many, but most studies confirm that students who read at least 20 minutes per day experience increased test scores and increased development in vocabulary, listening and comprehension skills. (The Children's Reading Foundation. 2023. Read Together 20 Minutes Every Day. www.readingfoundation.org)
Please join us by encouraging your child to become a lifelong learner and reader! We look forward to the school year ahead to be full of many wonderful books and reading experiences for your family. Should you have any questions regarding our library program throughout the year, please don't hesitate to contact me. Additionally, here is a link to our library program FAQ for parents to review to be up-to-date on all LAS library policies and procedures.
Happy Reading!
