October 14th Unconference Day
All teachers and staff in the district participated in our Second Annual Unconference for a full day of professional learning in an area of interest to the teachers. Some of the topics included: Active Learning in the Classroom, Creating Interactive Notebooks, Using Google Apps for Education, and Mindfulness in the Classroom.
World Language Classes Celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month
English Language Arts Curriculum Writing
K-12 English Language Arts teachers joined together for the first day of curriculum writing. During this session, teachers worked to unpack the standards and discover how standards progress from K through 12.
Summer Reading Book Chats
Students at RBS and BHS participated in summer reading book chat activities. The event was a success!
The Perfect Score
6th-8th Grade students read the book The Perfect Score by Rob Buyea and drew illustrations to represent their favorite scene in the book.
A Beautiful Boy
Over 40 students at BHS read the book A Beautiful Boy by David Sheff. In this activity, students rotated around to different stations responding to thought provoking questions about the book.
RBS Family Math Night for 4th-8th Grade Students
A great night to check out RBS and work with your child on some fun and challenging problems. Students who completed all stations were put into a raffle and we had 6 winners of gift cards in addition to prizes generously donated by our Book Fair.
Teachers in Grades K-5 are implementing Standards-Based Grading and Report Cards this year. They have been working hard to develop rubrics and assessments to improve grading practices. Parents and faculty are invited to attend a presentation to the community on November 5, 2019.
