March News
from Oak Creek Elementary
A Note from the Principal
It's hard to believe that we are just a couple of weeks away from Spring Break and our last quarter of the year.
Our beautiful playgrounds opened last week and the students are so excited.
It is sure to be another busy month as we wrap up our PTA fundraiser, celebrate Read Across America week, kickoff our grade level field trips and see all the amazing talents our students have at Fine Arts Night.
I look forward to seeing you on campus throughout this month's events.
Sincerely,
Valerie Harari
Principal

Ocelot Reminders
Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Safety of all students and staff remains our number one priority. To assist with this, please remember that the side loop is for busses, daycare vans, and those dropping off students with a visible disabled placard who require parent assistance to enter the building. All others should go through the main car line. The parking spaces in the side lot are designated for staff members. Please utilize the front lot when you need to park and walk students into the building. Also, please be mindful of homeowners in the neighborhoods as we have had many reach out with concerns of parked cars blocking driveways and streets.
Late Arrivals
Any student who arrives after the 7:35 bell will need to be checked in to the front office by a parent or guardian. When the bell rings, the gate on the side of the building will be closed and a sign will be posted letting you know that you will need to park and check your child in to the office.
Parking Information
As we continue to grow, our parking lots are getting full. The side lot is designated staff parking. Visitors and those who need to park to bring students into the building should use the front lot. Please keep in mind that designated disabled parking spots are only to be used by individuals who have a visible disabled placard or license plate. All others will be asked to move their vehicle.
*Our officer will be issuing citations to those who utilize the disabled spots without a visible placard. This includes drop off and pick-up.*
Dress Code
Students and parents may determine personal attire and grooming standards, provided they comply with the district guidelines. These guidelines will be strictly enforced by all Oak Creek staff members. Students who are not in compliance with the district guidelines will be required to change. The full student dress code can be found here.
Please note:
- Hairstyles/color should be appropriate
- Accessories depicting animal-like characteristics are not allowed
- Shorts, skirts and dresses should be no shorter than mid-thigh
- Hats and hoods are not allowed to be worn in the building
- Temporary tattoos and body painting is to be covered or removed
Electronic Devices: Phones and Smart Watches
As noted in the District Handbook, electronic devices are to be turned off and stored in backpacks during the school day.
1st offense: Reminder
2nd offense: Device held by teacher for parent pick-up
Allergy Friendly Lunch Tables
We have students with severe food allergies who need access to an allergy friendly table at lunch. These tables are marked in the cafeteria and in the hallway at large events. Please only use these tables if you are needing access to an allergy friendly seating area.
Lunch Visitors
We love having visitors during lunch. To ensure safety for all, please note that you are only able to have lunch with your child (friends are unfortunately not able to join) and all visitors must be seated at a designated table. Due to limited seating, we ask that you arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your student's scheduled lunch time. Those arriving before this will be asked to wait in the lobby.
Oak Creek One Pager
This year we have our Oak Creek one pager. This is a one stop shop for important information that you may need throughout the year such as district safety protocols, background check information, and and free/reduced lunch just to name a few. By clicking here you will be directed to both pages of the one pager.
A Note From Mrs. Trump
Please use the Signup Genius to select the day(s) you would like to volunteer to be a Hallway Hero. Remember to tell me what times you are available and if there is something specific I need to know when creating your schedule. For example, I am available from 7:15-10:00 and would only like to do safety checks or I am available from 7:15-3:30 and would love to help in any way possible. Please email Danielle.Trump@comalisd.org if you have any questions.
