Thursday is our first playday of the year. Playday is when we celebrate students for being respectful, responsible and safe. Each playday has a theme and provides students with an extra 30 minutes of play time. This month our theme is Silly Hair/Crazy Hat day. We can't wait to see how creative you all are!

Friday, September 23rd is a pupil free day and there is no school for students.

Calling all artists! Join fellow student's across America creating artwork with the theme "Show Your Voice". There will be judges ranging from a tik tok creator, a musician who works with doja cat and an amazing illustrator/designer who once went to SME! Digital submissions are due by October 9 - the link is in the SME E Blast. All participants will be included in a group show at the Baldwin Art Gallery and at the SME Talent show! Winners will get a special prize and move on to the next round in the competition. Are you SME's next art star? Your inspiration is yourself! How will you "SHOW YOUR VOICE?"

SEED is excited to continue the work of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at SME. SEED works for every student and family to feel respected, supported and represented at Sierra Madre Elementary School. SEED is highlighting National Hispanic Heritage Month! Please check out the September SEED resource guide for great resources on Hispanic Heritage. Learn about Sal Castro, the Los Angeles teacher who helped Latino students fight for their educational rights in the 1960’s. Unfortunately, SEED will not be holding their September Fall picnic do to scheduling conflicts.
