GMS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 17, 2023
Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families,
It was a fun week at Geisler MS! This week was Spirit Week and the staff and students showed up with lots of SPIRIT! On Friday, we had an assembly at the end of the day. We recognized our Honor Roll Students, Students of the Month (Oct/Nov), Band Students, Orchestra Students, Student Athletes, Staff Members of the Month and Teacher of the Year. We finished our assembly with a Staff vs. Students volleyball game. Our Wolf Pack is amazing and I am so proud of all of the dedicated and enthusiastic staff and students.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend,
Sincerely,
Stuart Riley

Certificates were distributed to each honor roll student during 6th hour on Thursday. Please see the attached document for a list of all Honor Roll Students.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Day
WLCSD is currently planning our Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration and need your help. This year’s theme is “You belong” with the focus on inclusivity. The keynote speaker is Kevin Szawala, aka “Mr. Peace”. Kevin is a National Youth Speaker and Michigan native who travels the county speaking to students and schools on the topics of bullying prevention, diversity and inclusion, teen mental health, and suicide awareness.
Geisler MS will soon begin working on our school exhibit that will be showcased at Walled Lake Northern High School at the annual celebration on Monday, January 15th.
Please see the District communication links below for more information on the event and a nomination form for a "Friend of Diversity." Individual students may enter individual projects to celebrate the day as well.

Weekend Food Program-Hospitality House
Supporting and caring for our students in any way possible is our mission at GMS. Geisler MS recently partnered with Hospitality House Food Pantry in Walled Lake to bring the Weekend Food Program to our students. If you are a family that could use a little extra help with meals on the weekends, please let your child’s counselor know. Your child’s name will be held confidential. The Weekend Food Program would provide approximately 6 meals and snacks for your student on the weekend. The food would be distributed to your student in a discreet bag or backpack for them to take home each Friday. There is no cost to participate in the program. To optimize a student’s success at school starts with students having enough to eat. Please see the attached flyer for more information about the Weekend Food Program. If you are interested in having your student participate, please contact your student’s counselor Ann Marie Rutherford (Counselor for 6th Grade Students (A-L) and ALL 8th Grade Students) annmarierutherford@wlcsd.org or 248-956-2917 or Amanda Hart (6th Grade Students (M-Z) and ALL 7th Grade Students) amandahart@wlcsd.org or 248-956-2916.
