Spring SBA Communication
Dear Families,
This spring your student will take the Smarter Balanced tests in math and English language arts. Students in grade 8 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).The results from these tests will help us identify your student’s strengths, areas of growth and their readiness for the next step in their educational path.
Students will take all parts of the assessment online. The math and language arts assessments are administered in two parts; a computer adaptive test (CAT) and a performance task (PT). The testing schedule for MMS students is as follows
Science
Grade Level Test Dates 6th & 7th Grades No State Test 8th Grade WCAS Completed in Science class May 9-10 *Students needing more time will complete the test during class on May 11-12
Math
Grade Level Test Dates 6th-8th Grade Math CAT Math Performance Task May 16-17 June 18-19 All students will complete their assessments in their Math class.
Language Arts
Grade Level Test Dates 6th-8th Grade ELA CAT ELA Performance Task May 22-23 May 24-26 All students will complete their assessments in their ELA class.

New Building Entry Process for Visitors
Per new District policy, our office staff must ask ask for:
- Visitor's name
- Visitor's purpose at the school
- Photo ID
We thank all visitors for being a partner in helping ensure a safe teaching and learning environment for all.

Allergy Season Is Here!
*Medication Policy Reminder:
Student's can have medication at school as long as we have written permission (an order) from the parent and Health Care Provider. See medication policy under the health services tab on the SBLSD website or click here. https://www.sumnersd.org/domain/1274
*If your student has an order for medication at school, a new one will be needed for the next (23/24) school year. Blank orders can be found on our health services tab or click here. https://www.sumnersd.org/domain/1274
*Contact Info: be sure your family contact information is up-to-date in Skyward. Especially emergency contacts.
*Better Weather: Student's are allowed to have sunscreen and lip balm at school without an order.
