Downingtown Cyber Academy Update
December 8, 2023
Dear DCA Families,
December 7th was the midmark of Marking Period 2. We encourage you to take some time to review the mid-term marks with your child, acknowledging their hard work and identifying areas where they are struggling. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers or our administrative team. Open communication is vital for your child's academic success.
Also, middle school teacher, Ms. Goeske, will be returning from leave on Monday, December 11th. Thank you so much to Mr. Frinzi who was filling in while she was away!
Have a great weekend!
Fondly,
Dr. Kecia Nesmith, Principal and Curriculum Supervisor
Dr. Kristie Burk, Coordinator for Online & Blended Learning
Week 15 starts on Monday, Dec. 11th.

Important Information
SAT Prep Classes
Please read this letter from Downingtown East if you're interested in signing up for SAT Prep classes.
Flexible Instruction Days (FID)/Elementary School: Grades K-5
When the district is closed due to a weather emergency, the Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) will operate as normal.
If students are unable to attend due to power outages or other issues, parents can send an excuse note to cyber_attendance@dasd.org.
Flexible Instruction Days (FID)/Middle School: Grades 6-8
When the district is closed due to a weather emergency and a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is announced, all DCA middle school classes will be completely asynchronous. Students should work on their material for the week in Schoology.
On a FID, middle school teachers will hold office hours via Zoom to answer students' questions and to provide help. Teachers will post their office hour schedules in Schoology.
Because a FID is considered a school day, students with scheduled DCA classes must log their attendance in Infinite Campus between 5 am and 11 pm on this day or they will be marked absent. If students are unable to login due to power outages or other issues, parents can send an excuse note to cyber_attendance@dasd.org.
Flexible Instruction Days (FID)/High School: Grades 9-12
When the district is closed due to a weather emergency and a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is announced, high school students should work on their material for the week in Schoology.
High school teachers will hold office hours if they have a scheduled Zoom on that letter day. Teachers will post their office hour schedules in Schoology. As always, high school Zooms are optional.
Because a FID is considered a school day, students with scheduled DCA classes must log their attendance in Infinite Campus between 5 am and 11 pm on this day or they will be marked absent. If students are unable to attend due to power outages or other issues, parents can send an excuse note to cyber_attendance@dasd.org.
The DCA will follow the East/West FID bell schedule on a FID:
Period 1 - 8:50 - 9:25
Period 2 - 9:28 - 10:00
Period 3 - 10:03 - 10:35
