Our ASBA All-Star Honor Band Clinician
Dr. Oliver is an active guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator. His ensembles at A-State have been recognized for their balanced approach in presenting both established and new repertoire. Since his appointment to A-State in 2007, Dr. Oliver has premiered or commissioned, either individually or through consortia, nearly 50 new works for wind ensembles and chamber winds. Performances by the A-State Bands have received favorable attention both regionally and nationally. The A-State Wind Ensemble accepted invitations through juried selections to perform at the 2010, 2014, and 2020 Southwestern College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Conferences. Composers including David Maslanka, Andrea Reinkemeyer, John Mackey, Carter Pann, Frank Ticheli, Michael Markowski, David Sampson, James David, and Jonathan Bartz have praised Dr. Oliver’s interpretation of their music.
We will be premiering a piece written by Valerie Laney-Rowe just for the All-Star Honor Band!

We will have two in-service sessions for a total of 2 hours credit.
