Update: Backpacks in the Classroom

One of the things that proved to be a challenge last year was allowing students to have backpacks in our classrooms. This was a carryover from not using lockers during Covid. But many students had very large backpacks and often carried everything from their lockers in their backpacks. In a classroom, large backpacks provide challenges moving around the room safely.


At the start of the year, I will be working with our teachers and students to determine if we should continue this practice or require students to keep items in their lockers. I will keep you updated on any changes we might make.

We need your child at Material Pick-Up this week if at all possible! SIGN UP HERE for a time slot!

  • Have school photo taken (Note: Picture Retakes are scheduled for August 28th)

  • Pick-up materials & schedule

  • Learn about WMS Clubs and Activities

  • Set up lockers

  • Walk their schedule in building

Your student can enter the school via the gym doors (look for the flags) at the time you select on Pick-A-Time. They are welcome to stay in the building and walk their schedule for familiarization.

7th & 8th Grade

6th Grade and New Students

A physical examination is required for entrance (first day of school) for all sixth grade and new students. Contact the Health Office at 331-228-3704 with questions.

⏰ NEED TO COME A DIFFERENT TIME?

NOTE: DATES AND TIMES HAVE BEEN UPDATED

If your student was unable to attend Material Pick Up, or simply needs some additional time to walk their schedule, and/or set up their lockers, you are welcome to bring them in as follows:

  • Thursday, August 3rd from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Friday, August 4th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Monday, August 7th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Tuesday, August 8th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Wednesday, Aug 9th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (due to 6th grade WEB Orientation event)
  • Thursday, August 10th from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm (Note: later start time due to D303 All Staff Meeting in the morning)
  • Friday, August 11th - closed to students to allow our staff time to prepare for the first day of school on Monday, August 14th.

They will need to be accompanied by an adult or older sibling during these visits.


Students who won't be in town before the first day of school will be able to enter the building as early as 8:00 am on Monday, August 14th to pick up supplies and go to their locker.

Welcome to Wredling! Our Principal will have an introductory meeting for all new families to our school district on Wednesday, August 2nd - 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Please plan to join us.

📸 PRE-ORDER YOUR SCHOOL PICTURES!

School pictures will be taken at Material Pick Up by Color Portraits. You must pre-order and pay for photo packages in advance at https://ordercp.com/ using the information found on THIS FORM and the School Event CODE #10065301 (also pictured below). The Color Portraits prepay site closes at Midnight the day of each Picture Day to process the orders.

Retake Picture Day

Note: If you are unable to attend either Material Pick Up Day, we have a Picture Retake Day scheduled for Monday, August 28th. There will be a different order form and code for that date, which will be publicized in our Friday Forecast prior to retakes.

Help for Material Pick Up!

We are looking for some help from parents and older students (high school or college) who could help during Material Pick-Up on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 1 and 2. There are several areas we can still use some help at Material Pick Up. Please consider signing up to help us out below!


Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated! Volunteers should report to the WMS front office for assignment locations when they arrive.

RedShirt Volunteers Needed for the First 4 Days of School!

We are looking for some parent/guardian volunteers who will help students, especially 6th graders, with their locks and help them find classes. Our RedShirts will also support the PE department assigning lockers during the first two days.

Please wear a red shirt when you are at WMS so students know who to ask for help. We do have some actual RedShirts for those who would like to buy them. We will sell them at Material Pick-Up for $5.

When you come to WMS, please arrive a few minutes early to the front entrance so we can do a brief background check. You will need a valid driver's license or state ID.

FALL MUSICAL "PETER PAN JR." AUDITION INFORMATION

Mandatory Audition Workshop:

Tuesday, August 22nd 3:45-5:45


Auditions:

Wednesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August 24th 3:45-6:15

(students will choose 1 of the 2 days)


Callbacks:

Friday, August 25th from 3:45-6:15


First Rehearsal:

Monday, August 28th 3:45-5:45


NOTE: Audition Materials/Packets will be made available beginning August 1st at materials pickup. Official audition signup will be done electronically via a link on Schoology. Access to the audition site in Schoology will open on August 1st.


Rehearsals will be held daily from 3:45-5:45 from 8/28 until the performances in October. Students must be able to attend MOST rehearsals and cannot have any conflicts with Tech Week rehearsals or Performances.
