Mattos Family Update
February 6, 2023
IMPORTANT 23-24 SCHOOL REGISTRATION INFO- SCROLL DOWN FOR INFO
Dear Mattos Families,
Every Year, many California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, classwork, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support.
Beginning in February, our multilingual learners in all grades will be taking the Summative ELPAC. The Summative ELPAC is given every year until they are reclassified as proficient in English. There are four sections- Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
1. What is the test format? It is computer-based.
2. Which standards are tested? The 2012 California English Language Development Standards.
Later this Spring, 3rd through 5th grade students will take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP. This is the state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career. CAASPP
includes computer adaptive tests in English language arts, mathematics, and science.
Students in grades 3-5 will take the computer adaptive tests in English and math in Spring of
2023. Students in grade 5 will take the tests in science. Your child's teacher will communicate later this year what specific dates testing will occur. Students will receive individual score reports electronically to parents/guardians in late summer/early fall and will include an overall score, a description of the student’s achievement level for English language arts, mathematics, and science, if applicable, and other information.

Forget Something at Home?
When items are forgotten at home, it is important to not interrupt instruction. Please drop off all forgotten items by 9:45 a.m. Anything dropped off by then should be left on the cart outside the office and labeled with student name and room #. A yard duty will deliver those items by 10 a.m. Anything left after 10 a.m. will need to be picked up by your child (we will call the classroom). Please help us out and bring all items by 9:45 a.m.
