2023 CAKE AUCTION CHANGES
2023 Cake Auction Changes
There will be a few changes for the Cake Auction this year. We hope this simplifies the process and helps prevent errors for the buyers. Please be familiar with the changes below.
Registration
Same as last year. Register through 4-H Online by Monday, August 7th. 4-H club leaders can email Tammy @tcavanaugh2@unl.edu to register their club for the auction.
On-site at the Auction
Member/Club logistics:
- A sale order will be determined using a random generator for everyone who registers by the deadline through 4-H Online. A sale catalog will be printed and distributed the night of the auction in the Open Air Building so members/clubs know the order they will go on stage. The sale order will be numbered. Throughout the evening the auctioneer or Cake Auction Superintendent will call for groups of 10 at a time to come up and get in line like we have in the past.
- Members/Clubs who entered after the deadline or on-site must do so through the Cake Auction Superintendent, Michelle Lindsey, prior to the start of the auction.
- Cakes/Baked Goods will NOT be taken to the extension office meeting room. Members/Clubs will NOT draw a number, will not wear a number sticker, and will NOT number their item being auctioned. Members/Clubs are responsible for their items until they are handed to the buyer.
- After the item is sold it will be directly handed off to the buyer.
