GREETINGS FROM DR. BROWN
Dear Parents,
Happy Universal Human Rights Month and Happy Holidays to everyone!
AEVA provided 180 turkeys to families who came to Curtiss Middle School on November 18th. Community service is one of the student learning outcomes. We encourage students to begin to volunteer within the community. We know this generosity was beneficial to families near and far.
The first grading period has ended for elementary students. Congratulations to every student who will be awarded honor roll in a few weeks. We have reached the home stretch with only three weeks remaining in the first semester for 6-12 grades. December 13 is the last day to make up any work assignments for students in grades six through twelve. If your child has not finalized their Student Master Agreement, please speak with your student's teacher as soon as possible. A signed Master Agreement is required from every student, parent, and teacher to participate in the Virtual Academy. Students receive attendance only if they submit assignments from their ROAs. Please ask your child's teacher how many days your child has been absent this school year. Remember, assignments submitted equal attendance.
Student intervention letters were given to students who needed additional academic support in late October. If you did not receive an intervention invite for your child and would like information, contact your child's teacher and find out what intervention options are available. I want all students to have the opportunity to be successful.
Big Kudos to all our art submissions with our AEVA's GOT ART project. There were many submissions and they look phenomenal. In addition, I want to thank every student who participated for being a positive reflection of the creative abilities of AEVA students.
Thank you, students and parents, for completing the School Experience Survey. Our goal is to have 100% student and parent participation. You have a little more time if you still need to complete it. The final deadline is December 9. Click the link below to complete your survey. Thank you again for your participation. The feedback acquired from the survey is integral to the future of our program.
Attention parents of High School students, the Art and Entertainment Virtual Academy has received WASC Initial accreditation. ACS WASC accreditation is an ongoing six-year cycle of quality whereby the school demonstrates the capacity, commitment, and competence to support high-quality student learning and continuous school improvement. Because of this approval, all our seniors who graduate will receive a valid diploma which allows them to pursue higher education and work in their chosen field. Thank you again to every parent and student who volunteered to be interviewed by WASC evaluators.
Parents, please be reminded that students can only remain in our Independent Study program if they complete their assignments and attend classes. In addition, please remember the agreed Master Agreement responsibilities for all.
Thanks for being an essential member of our AEVA family!
