It's time to sign up for Trunk or Treat!

As is our yearly tradition, after practice on Thursday, October 26, the band boosters will host a fun trunk or treat experience for all band and guard students. They have been working really hard and we would like to celebrate their work!

Help us do that by signing up to decorate your vehicle and help pass out candy or to donate candy to the event!

Mark your calendar for the 4th Annual Jagtastic Online Holiday Auction happening on December 2nd from 8 am to 8 pm! This annual event is a great way to jumpstart your holiday shopping. We need your help with donating items to section baskets and getting the word out about the event. You should have received information from your Parent Section Leader about your section’s basket theme and suggested items to donate. Auction items are due on November 17th. We've reached the midpoint of "Bandtober", and what an exciting journey it's been! Let's take a moment to recap the past week and get a sneak peek at what's on the horizon.

**Texas Marching Classic Triumph**

Last Saturday, our Jaguar Band showcased their exceptional talents at the Texas Marching Classic in Kelly Reeves Stadium. It was a long but incredible day. In the preliminaries, the Jaguar Band's performance was strong enough to secure them a spot in the finals, allowing them to present their production, "Long Live the King(s)," for a second time that day. The second performance did not disappoint, and our Jaguar Band achieved a milestone by outscoring and surpassing Brandeis HS. This accomplishment is especially sweet, considering Brandeis HS had previously outpaced us this season, keeping us out of the BOA Austin Regional finals.

**Achievements to Celebrate**

Our Jaguar Band's excellence doesn't stop there. The Jaguar Color Guard delivered an outstanding performance, surpassing the 3rd place finisher, Cedar Park HS. Additionally, our Jaguar Percussion demonstrated their prowess by outperforming Brandeis HS and Georgetown HS. Notably, they also outscored the powerhouse percussion sections from Dripping Springs HS, Leander HS, and Westlake HS.

**Looking Ahead to UIL Region**

As our celebrations wind down, it's time to focus on the most significant week yet. UIL Region is fast approaching, set for this Tuesday, October 17, 2023. If our Jaguar Band earns a 1st Division (Superior) Rating on Tuesday, they will advance to the UIL Area Marching Contest on Saturday, October 21st.

**Bye Week Rehearsal**

This week, there won't be a football game as it's our bye week, and the timing couldn't be better. We've rescheduled the typical 5:00-8:00 rehearsal from Tuesday to Friday afternoon. This Friday rehearsal block gives us the opportunity to fine-tune any last-minute edits, adjustments, or tweaks to the program before the crucial UIL Area competition on Saturday.

Let's make this coming week count and always remember, "It's a great day to be a Jaguar!"

Sponsor a student in the Johnson Jaguar Band or Guard. Your donation of any amount will be directed toward a student based on need and at the discretion of our Band Directors.

Scholarships will be used towards band fees, private lesson costs or meal costs. Scholarships will be anonymous and confidential. This is a first step in our growing scholarship program for the Jaguar Band program.

Support the Johnson Band and Guard by signing up TODAY for the Fly A Flag Program! For $52 per year, we will place a 3' x 5' flag in your yard 5 times a year for patriotic holidays. Blocks with multiple flags look fantastic so share with your neighbors!

One of our parents who is a Dell employee shared that you may be able to donate $150 per quarter for volunteer activities, etc. If you are a Dell employee or employee of another corporation, please consider participating in their donation program and give to the Johnson Band. If you have done so already, you might need to resubmit the request periodically (quarterly, annually). Every little bit helps!

If your company has a program that makes charitable donations, please let us know so that we can share that with our families who may not be aware. Every opportunity we have to support our students is greatly appreciated!

There is a drop off slot in the band hall. Or students can email a digital copy of their hours to banquet@johnsonbands.com. The JHS Band Boosters have created a form for band students to track their band volunteer service hours. (Click the previous sentence to link to the form.) This form is similar to what is used by other organizations such as the NHS and puts control of volunteer service hours tracking in the students hands. Students should print and use this to log for all band related volunteer service hours and ensure completion of all fields including supervisor signature. Parents signatures are not accepted. Follow all details on the form to turn in the logs in the spring to be considered for Band Student Service Awards at the Band Banquet or for logging volunteer service for Letterman Jacket points. Any questions, contact banquet@johnsonbands.com or secretary@johnsonbands.com. This form should be used for all hours since the Band Banquet last spring. Multiple forms may be submitted to track all of your volunteer service.
