Fugett Students and Staff Support Malawi, Africa
For the past twenty-three years Fugett Middle School has been involved with a sustainable development and community building project with the Zowe Community in rural northern Malawi. Students and staff are collecting and recycling empty printer cartridges and used/old cell phones. Fugett is using the money for community building activities in a rural village in Malawi, Africa through a partnership with Pamoza International.
To date Fugett has raised over $35,000, which we have used to build a grinding and pounding mill in the village. Mr. Nefos, 6th grade Social Studies teacher had the opportunity to visit Zowe, Malawi to participate in the inauguration of the mill along with other local community leaders. Fugett is currently partnering with the community to sponsor a school breakfast program. Projects like this open the Fugett students’ minds to how people are living around the world.
Questions about the Malawi Project can be direct to Mr. Nefos at fnefos@wcasd.net

Flexible Instruction Day (FID) for Weather Emergencies
The WCASD participates in the Flexible Instruction Day (FID) Program. An FID offers an alternative approach to delivering instruction due to weather or other emergencies when travel or access to our buildings is not possible. FID(s) eliminates the need for make-up days in the event of school cancelations as they count as full days of school. We will first use traditional snow days in the event of inclement weather. Now that we have exhausted our 3 snow days, we plan to utilize a FID in the future. You can find more detailed information and expectations for WCASD’s Flexible Instruction Day (FID) program under the page named "Flexible Instruction Day (FID)."
If you have lost or misplaced your district-provided charger, you may purchase another here.
