From the Desk of Principal Fears
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Every May, we recognize the national movement to raise awareness about mental health. Together, we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support the millions of people in the U.S. affected by mental illness.
Please read below for important information regarding end of year activities.
Have a great week!

Practicing spanish language
On Friday, April 28th, English Language Learner and Spanish classes joined to make our students practice their Spanish/English skills. It was fun, yet eye-opening for the Spanish class students to be in contact with native speakers and realize how important it is to practice with the "real source." Check out the pictures below.

Please be aware that there is a shortage of referees and umpires that will likely impact sports at some point this Spring- both home and away. PIAA is allowing for “scrimmages” between teams if no official is available. When this happens please be patient and understanding if a fill-in referee or umpire (teacher or other adult) is helping out. We all would prefer a “scrimmage” over a cancelation.
During the month of May or June, 6th graders will complete an Impact baseline concussion test during PE class. The tests are done on computers and will provide a baseline for the next two years at Fugett. The results are stored in an online database and if necessary, can be provided to parents and/or physicians if a student has a possible concussion. For more information, please see this link below or email Thomas Swift at tswift@wcasd.net.

Hello from the Fugett PTO!
DINING NIGHT OUT TOMORROW!
Our last dining night out for the year is tomorrow, May 9th from 5-7:00 pm for both Giorgio's Pizza & Sub, and Marble Slab Creamery (formally Maggie Moo's) of Exton. Both restaurants will be donating proceeds of sales to our Fugett PTO when you mention Fugett Middle School. These restaurants are conveniently located right next to each other, so we hope you can support the PTO by dining out!
CALL FOR FRIGHT NIGHT VOLUNTEERS
Our favorite time of year at Fugett is fall because of our biggest PTO event - Fright Night! We would like to start preparing for this spooktacular October night early, and we are seeking a few volunteers specifically for the Haunted House committee. If you like Halloween decorating, then we need your creativity to enhance this experience for our kids. Please contact the PTO (fugettpto@gmail.com) if interested.
Donations for West Chester Food Cupboard
The PTO is collecting donations to support the WC Food Cupboard. Please consider purchasing items in need and having your student place the donation in the blue bin marked "Food Cupboard", located at the cafeteria entrance. items most needed are: diapers, feminine products, cereal, toothpaste, deodorant, canned meat and fish, and canned fruit. Any items that you can spare are always gratefully accepted. We will continue this much needed service throughout the year. Thank you for your generosity and support!
